Judges

A panel of four judges was gathered to provide scoring for the event. The judges were instructed to rate the dunk on an overall scale from 1 to 10. (It should be noted that in the spirit of fairness, the identities of the dunkers were hidden when the judges were given the dunks out-of-character. Names have been added back in after the fact, here in the descriptions below.)

Round 1

Lumari Colquinn

Dunk(click to expand)

Lumari waves to the crowd and introduces who is alongside him, his brother-from-another-mother, Carlos Muniz; a pelican and his college teammate. They are stood on the free throw circle at the opposite end of the court. Lumari speaks to the crowd a little, that it's important to give things names because it gives them importance, and that the name of this dunk means something special to him and his friend. Thus he names this one, "Taking Flight".

The crowd applauds again, and when they calm down, they get the signal to start. After a couple exchanged looks and deep breaths, he moves forward with his mate. Carlos checks the ball to the seagull, he passes it back, and just as Carlos takes the pass, the two of them run together toward the hoop.

It's a less theatrical dunk, which itself takes a matter of 5 or 6 seconds. The jog turns into a decent run as they pass the half-court line. Carlos approaches first, and at the free throw circle, he tosses the ball under-paw into the right side of the backboard and stops his approach. Lumari crosses into his lane, and he's almost under the hoop when the ball hits the backboard, giving him time to plant his feet. He jumps up to grasp the rebounding ball with one paw, and lets momentum do the hard work as he brings the ball back the other way and slams it in, right-to-left, against the rim and through the net. Upon landing and regaining control of his feet - jumping is hard, yo - he grabs his jersey and shakes it, earning extra cheers and jeers from the exuberant crowd.

I feel their message is good, but sharing the spotlight of the dunk hurts the overall spectacle. The dunk itself is not flashy and it's rather too plain for my tastes in this dunk contest. If it was a solo effort, the score might be higher. --Tashira Rucson
Not a bad opening dunk. Old college teammate getting involved, fun to see. I can definitely imagine this hyping up the crowd during a game at Midwest Avian. This was fun, I liked it. --Cedric O'Toole

Jace Guylar

Dunk(click to expand)

When it was Jace’s turn, he walked up to his friend, who was his former college teammate and also playing in the FBA for the Winnipeg Voyageurs, Halley Leonards, who was also standing on the courtside with a bunch of fellow FBA players.

He told Halley to stand slightly next to the basketball hoop and hold the ball right above his head. Halley knew what he was going to do to him by jumping over him and grabbing the basketball to dunk it. He trusted the dog as Jace walked further back to the 3-point line to get a good jump as he breathed in, not fumbling against the hundreds and thousands of people watching live.

And when he breathed out, he ran with all his might straight to Halley and managed to jump over him; instead of Jace doing a normal two-handed slam, he instead did an Eastbay (under the legs) dunk over him and landed in a smooth motion, acting like it was nothing normal for what he just did.

An under-leg dunk over the former teammate! Impressive but it doesn't have a huge wow factor. I keep feeling like I've seen dunks like this before. --Tashira Rucson
Okay, now that was impressive! Jumping over a fellow player is pretty good as is, but to do that and then go under the legs, wow! --Cedric O'Toole

Theodore Terdoslavich III

Dunk(click to expand)

The arena is dimmed and then a spotlight turned on, centering on Theodore at center court, seated on a chair looking at a crossword puzzle in the newspaper. He taps his finger on it; a headset next to his muzzle.

"4 letters: FBA 'Slam"

He looks at the basket as a few fans scream "DUNK!" and at the basket there's a tall four-tile crossword line set up, three below the hoop and one above. Quickly, Theodore lumbers over and puts the large, black stick-on K, N, and U from bottom to top in their proper places by sticking them on. But the square for the D is above the rim. The big wolf quickly puts the first three letters in their proper places. He then takes a nearby basketball in his right and the needed D with his left. He goes back behind the arc and starts up a hard drive. He leaps as high as he can, slaps the D on with his left hand and manages to one-handed slam the ball with his right. The D is a little crooked looking, but properly stuck as the crowd cheers in celebration.

Theodore successfully lands from the jump and the adrenaline rush has him pump his arms in the air, encouraging them to cheer more as he exits.

Okay the dunk itself is simple but the whole theaterics leading up to it is what saved the whole thing. I really enjoy the creativity of this! --Tashira Rucson
Alright, as a man who’s done a crossword or two in my time, I didn’t hate this. Decent setup, you got the crowd involved, and you made the dunk. But, I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I felt like this was missing something. --Cedric O'Toole

Treshaun Carnell

Dunk(click to expand)

Treshaun walks out onto the court with his dog, Zephyr (a large German Shepherd cross), at his side. Zephyr is wearing his own personalized Firestorm jersey and seems calm but alert as he keeps his eyes on his owner.

Treshaun carries a ball beneath his arm and they stop at center court, the goat grinning as he looks down at his beloved canine companion. “Are you ready to play, Zeph?” He says with a tone of excitement, getting a bark of response from the dog. Treshaun starts to dribble the ball and Zephyr moves away a bit, but keeps his eyes focused on the ball and his master.

“Let’s play!” Treshaun exclaims and starts to move up the court. He tosses the ball at Zephyr, and the dog bounces it back off his nose, Treshaun catches it and continues towards the basket. They repeat the little passing game a couple of times as they move before they reach the arc. With a sharp whistle and a motion of his hand, Zephyr seems to get into a trained position.

“Ready Zeph?” With another excited bark, Treshaun throws the ball in the air between the top of the arc and the basket. Zephyr runs up, making an impressively high jump to bounce the ball off his nose once more, this time towards the basket. While this is happening, Treshaun has run up to the basket and, with a leap, catches the ball in the air and does a two-handed overhead dunk, complete with a rim-hang before he drops down to the court and stands proudly next to Zephyr, who is now holding the basketball in his mouth and looking proud of himself.

If the pet's performance is more relevant to this contest, this would've been a 8 or 9... but this is a dunk contest, not a pet agility event. Impressive work on the pet's behalf, but it's the player being graded, not the pet. --Tashira Rucson
Good boy Zeph! Honestly, Treshaun, I wasn’t sure quite what to expect from a dunk involving one of your dogs, but it’s clear you’ve got Zephyr here very well trained. This clearly took a lot of practice and coordination to pull off, well done! --Cedric O'Toole

Mini Berry

Dunk(click to expand)

Instead of running to the rim from the court, Mini would be running from the other way—right from the seats or wherever the audience is. A teammate or otherwise a friend of theirs will be seated at the front row and throw the ball way up high but would just land close enough to the rim where, by then, Mini would've made it to the court and jumped in with a honey dip dunk a la Vince Carter from 2000.

Well, some might appreciate the unorthodox build up to this dunk. But I have to be on the level with you… I honestly would have been more impressed by the honey dip on its own. --Cedric O'Toole

Andrew McDonald-Rainbow

Dunk(click to expand)

A ring announcer comes out to the middle of the court. It’s Merrick Collins of Clutch-Time Sports fame.

“Ladies and Gentleman, This next Dunk is set for one fall! And it is for a place in the second round of the 2026 FBA Slam Dunk Contest.”

Music starts to play over the PA system, It’s the song “Bombshell” by Powerman 5000.

Andrew McDonald-Rainbow is coming out of the race in camouflage gear and taped up glasses with two wooden tables.

“Your competitor for this dunk, From Dudleyville. Weighing in at 205lb…”

“ANDREW MCDONALD-DUDLEY!”

It looks like Andrew is going to do a similar stunt to last time as he sets up the tables near the hoop but he seems to have got the tables facing the other way, Like he was going to go from Left to Right and not straight up to the hoop. He also spaced them out a fair way apart as well, So it looked like he was going to try something different despite the first impression.

In the intervening time as Andrew was setting up the tables, Wes Kerry had grabbed a Basketball. Andrew was walking up to Wes until Bam! Andrew is attacked by a Masked Assailant who has a very distinct beak!

They both start walking and brawling to the table to the right of the hoop. Andrew gives him a clothesline to the table and as the assailant who clearly isn’t Koa Cross is groggy, Andrew puts him on the table.

Andrew signals to Merrick that he’ll be throwing the ball to him while the Magpie is in the air.

It looks like Andrew is about to start but he pulls out a bottle of Lighter Fluid from his pants and starts pouring it over the table to the left. He pulls a match out and Whosh! The Left Table is on fire!

Andrew is going to jump over a burning table, Catch the ball thrown by Merrick, Dunk it and then in the downfall from the dunk, Dive onto the Masked Man, Putting them through the table!

He’s gotta be quick though, That fire isn’t going to last long so he has to line up now and do the dunk.

He lines up and goes for the run! He jumps! Merrick throws the ball. Andrew gets over the burning table!

Grabs the ball in mid air!

Goes for the Dunk!

And he gets it in.

Now he has to land the fall. He swings on the rim as soon as he hits the dunk, Lets go…

And comes diving down on the table as he puts the Masked Man away! The crowd roars as Andrew has pulled off an amazing Second Round dunk. It’s now up to the judges to see if he will finally move on to the second round on his third attempt at the contest.

A pro wrestling slam-dunk crossover is not something I would've put on my bingo card, but here it is. First time I've seen a flaming table done like this and I'm surprised the arena's fire marshall approved this. Creative, risky, and unique enough to impress me. --Tashira Rucson
Ladies and gentlemen, are you not entertained?!? A true showman has arrived!!! Look, I don’t fancy myself a pro wrestling fan, but… how can you not watch this and not think, in the words of John Ottiver on his FBO show, “Wrestling is better than the things you like”? This was fun, this was theater, this was spectacular!!! --Cedric O'Toole

Andrew McDonald-Rainbow

Dunk(click to expand)

As the lights dim and the arena goes into black, a siren could be heard as a voice comes over the PA.

“There’s not long left now in this contest. It’s been tight all night between the Melbourne Hammerheads and the Melbourne City Mariners.”

The voice turned out to be Wes Kerry, Famous FAFL commentator.

“Andrew McDonald-Rainbow has been one of the bright spots for the Hammerheads tonight. If there is one person who can win this for them, It’s him.”

After pulling off a “High-Risk, High-Reward” dunk, Andrew knew he had to pull off a showstopper and a definitive statement that this was his Dunk Content.

The lights then come on and move towards the half court that now has 4 players around it with a Kangaroo trying to get past a deer and a Bull Shark putting a block on Andrew.

“Stefon McKee is trying his best to fend off Carson Lachlan but time is running out! He’s gonna have to kick it and hope someone marks the ball!”

Stefon keeps fending Carson before finding some time to set up a kick towards the hoop.

“McKee! Bombs it long!!! But it might just go to Bronte Nye who can ice the clock…”

Bronte Nye gets into position to Mark the ball before Andrew runs up and in a fast and swift fashion, Jumps onto Bronte Nye’s back to get massive height, grab the ball in mid-air and then dunk it with force as he comes down from his big pack hanger on the 7’0” Bull Shark.

“McDonald-Rainbow!!!!! You beauty!!! What a mark!!! And what a dunk!!!”

Andrew had just brought some Australiana to the FBA Dunk Contest by pulling off an Aussie Rules Specky before turning it into a dunk.

Andrew bows as the three FAFL players celebrate with him.

Pretty slow on the setup but the finish is rather satisfatory. I thought it would be just a boring standard dunk that we see in the FBA every day, but jumping onto the back of that shark for the dunk pretty much saved it. --Tashira Rucson
Wes said it better than I could lad, you are indeed a beauty!!! I think I can recall seeing some good marks when FSPN had Aussie Rules in the ‘80s, but none quite that fantastic! Seriously, we may need to make marking legal in the FBA now, I would pay good money to see dunks set up by launching off another player’s back! That was amazing!!! --Cedric O'Toole

Treshaun Carnell

Dunk(click to expand)

A tall skateboarding ramp is set up off to the side of the basket. Treshaun rolls onto the court, riding his skateboard and being pulled by his Husky pups, Fizz and Pop. The dogs, like Zephyr before them, sported their own custom Firestorm jerseys beneath their harnesses. His boyfriend, Warren, waits beneath the basket holding the ball. They pause a moment at center court as the goat sizes up his planned dunk before he grins a little bit; he braces himself on the board, grabbing the dog’s lines where they were attached to the simple harness at his waist.

“Mush!” He ordered, and the dogs took off. Treshaun does a few simple tricks with his board and can be heard giving commands to the dogs to make them change direction until they’re lined up with the ramp. Just a foot or two before the dogs reach the ramp, he gives them a command that sends them veering to the side just as he unclips them from his harness. He bends his knees as he goes up the ramp on the momentum left by the dogs, and Warren throws the ball up above the basket.

Treshaun performs an easy 180 with his board before letting the board go and catching the ball that Warren had thrown (Warren catching the board), and performing a reverse windmill to put the ball through the hoop before making another 90 rotation before he lands cleanly on the court, looking clearly thrilled as he hugs Warren and then his dogs.

Oh my goodness!!! Lad, you have blown me away here! The skateboard trick, with the dogs pulling you along, the 180 degree rotation on the board, pretty good on its own… but then you pull off a reverse windmill to finish it off! Talk about taking it to another level, wow!!! --Cedric O'Toole

Theodore Terdoslavich III

Dunk(click to expand)

Theodore Terdoslavich III and Oregon Swashbucklers teammate Emily Jackson came out onto the brightly-lit court and the fans noticed something interesting: Emily was wearing Theodore's normal goggles. The grey wolf stumbled around a bit as an act and the wolfess gave Theodore a new set of goggles: a green-colored set that would block his sight completely. At that time, Emily's twin sisters Sophie and Melanie Jackson came out from the sidelines; both of them wore custom-made Oregon Swashbucklers baseball uniforms.

You could tell they were all sisters as they shared the same jet-black hair and grey fur. After the cheers died down, Theodore took his place at the opponent free throw line and put on the blindfold goggles. He waved his hand in front of his face for effect. Emily then stood at the opposite free throw line and held up a basketball. At that point Sophie and Melanie pulled out two baseballs and started to play catch around at about 40 feet apart on either side of half-court circle. The task was clear: Theodore had to go across the court blind, go between the twin sisters' ball gauntlet, get Emily's basketball and slam it home.

As Theodore started to run, silently counting his steps, some in the crowd gasped as Melanie pulled out a third baseball and added it to the throws juggling between the two. Somehow, the timing was perfect as a baseball just whizzed over his ear with another one following and narrowly missing his arm. The wolf strode over to Emily and reached out his arms slightly to the left. He didn't make any contact with her as he grabbed the basketball. He jumped up, grabbed the ball, took it into his right hand and threw it down with a one-handed slam. As he landed, he let out a celebration howl, almost unbelieving that he pulled it off. The crowd cheered as the big wolf whiffed on a high five with Emily. She laughed and gave Theodore back his regular goggles; with a sheepish grin, he put them on and pumped his fist.

The best dunk I have seen so far! Really impressive they managed to go through that gauntlet blindly... I should try the goggles myself to see if it's actually real, but I'll take their word for it. --Tashira Rucson
So this was an interesting setup, you did well to work your way around the baseballs being thrown, all while not able to see, mind… but I can’t help but to think back to last year when Adge performed a blindfolded dunk, and that was a 360 from the free throw line. One handed jam, not bad, but I was left wanting more here. --Cedric O'Toole

Round 1

The order in this round will be determined by seeding order, starting with the top seed and progressing down the ranking.

Arther Selby

Arther Selby returns for another 3pt Contest, last year the rabbit needed to survive a tiebreaker battle in the 1st Round in order to move on and as the first competitor to take the floor tonight he looks to set a high mark. His first shot clangs off, but he quickly responds with a make, and by the time the moneyball comes around he's buried it to close out a solid opening rack. Moving to the left wing, his touch wavers, he drops in shots two and three but can't find the bonus ball, leaving a few points behind. Things turn around dramatically at the top of the arc, where Selby is nothing short of perfect, connecting on all five shots including the moneyball to give himself a massive boost.

The right wing slows him back down, as he knocks in only the first two before going cold. Heading into the final rack with time ticking, he fights back with draining shot two and then shot four to squeeze out a couple of late points before the buzzer sounds just as the last moneyball would have been attempted. Selby closes at 16 points, a respectable number, though he'll need to keep a close eye on the leaderboard as we go as his 15 last year required a tiebreaker to resolve.

Tyriq Murphy

Tyriq Murphy walks onto the court with the kind of confidence from someone who made it all the way to the finals, both in the 3pt Contest and Playoffs, and the Fancy Mouse’s opening rack makes that clear immediately. He rattles off all five shots, regular balls and moneyball alike, setting the tone right from the start. The left wing sees a slight dip, with his last two falling short, but three straight makes to open kept the damage minimal. Back in his groove at the top of the arc, Murphy once again sweeps the rack clean, burying the moneyball with crisp precision.

The right wing produces a small stumble, he drains the first two, misses the third, sinks the fourth, but the moneyball stays out. Murphy doesn't let it rattle him. Sprinting to the final corner, he alternates makes and misses before landing the final moneyball to close out his round in style. With 22 points on the board, Murphy has set himself up as a serious contender tonight and now posts four straight 20+ rounds in the 3pt Contest.

Eliza Mae duPont

Eliza Mae duPont takes the court, a player who over the offseason had announced her retirement and I thought we’d never get to see at All-Star Week again, and while she gets off to a rocky start, missing the first shot, she responds with three straight makes before the moneyball refuses to cooperate. At the left wing, she bounces back on the moneyball, cashing it in after a mixed rack where she found just two of the first four. It's a solid recovery that keeps her in the hunt.

The top of the arc proves to be her trouble spot, with only one make to show for five attempts. She rebounds at the right wing, however, drilling four of the first four shots in a row before just missing the bonus. The final rack brings more mixed results, two more makes, including a clutch moneyball, but her score is largely decided by the middle-round struggles. Eliza Mae duPont finishes at 16 points, a number that feels like it left a few points behind but is firmly in the mix as she sits tied with Arther Selby.

Rodney Blackburn

Rodney Blackburn comes out firing on all cylinders, the bigfur looking to break the 13 years drought since the last bigfur 3pt Champion. His opening rack is pristine, every single ball drops, moneyball included, and the crowd immediately takes notice. He carries that energy into the left wing, where after dropping the first ball he bounces back to connect on shots three, four, and the moneyball to keep the momentum going.

The top of the arc tests him for the first time; he can only connect on the second and the moneyball, capping what was otherwise a cold rack. The timberwolf’s touch returns at the right wing as he rattles in three straight to open, though the bonus slips by again. Heading into the final rack, Blackburn's pacing catches up with him, the buzzer sounds with only the first shot in the air, which he misses, leaving the entire last station uncompleted. It's a costly finish to what had been a blazing start. Still, the points banked early are enough to post 17, a score that keeps him relevant heading into the results but he will need to either pick up the pace should he move on, or nail every shot to stand a chance of making it to the finals.

Lorenz Valerio

Lorenz Valerio gets into his rhythm early, the only fur participating of the prolific 3pt shooting Bikers, shaking off a missed opener to drain three of the next four, including the moneyball, to close out a strong left corner rack. He's even more consistent at the left wing, three straight makes followed by the bonus ball, and by the time he reaches the top of the arc he's building something special. The Kangaroo Rat goes back to his alternating pattern, alternating hits with misses, but saves his moneyball to keep the score climbing.

The right wing is where things begin to slip. Valerio opens with two quick makes but then misses the back half entirely, losing the moneyball as well. In the final rack, he can only squeeze one make in before the buzzer cuts short his last shot. He finishes at 16 points a well-distributed score across the racks, but the cold right wing will linger as the what-if of his round. With a number of players putting up 16 points it is looking like we might very well see a tiebreaker round.

François Martineau

François Martineau steps to the line with something to prove, multiple attempts here at the 3pt contest with a 10+ year career, but the court doesn't cooperate early. He misfires on his first three shots at the left corner before finally connecting on the fourth, then watches the moneyball clank away. The left wing is even colder, four straight misses, before he rescues the rack by landing the moneyball. It's a tough start that puts him in an early hole.

Things begin to turn at the top of the arc, where he alternates makes and misses to claw back a couple of points. The right wing is where Martineau finds his best basketball of the night, connecting on shots one, two, and three before crowning it with the moneyball for a 5-point rack that keeps his score alive. Unfortunately, the final rack yields only one make and cuts off before the last shot, ending his round at 11 points. Martineau will need a lot of things to go wrong for his competitors to survive the cut.

Zuri Khattar-Varne

Zuri Khattar-Varne takes the line looking locked in, and while the left corner produces a mixed bag, two makes but no moneyball, her pace through the early racks is steady. At the left wing she's solid, connecting on three of five though the bonus stays out again. By the time she reaches the top of the arc, she's clearly in a groove, drilling four of five regular balls for one of the better mid-round racks of the night but the moneyball again refuses to drop.

The right wing is her best rack, she sweeps the first three and lands the moneyball for a full 5-point effort. Then, catastrophically, time runs out before she can even attempt the final five shots, leaving the entire last station untouched. That shutout at rack five is the story of Khattar-Varne's round. She finishes at 14 points, much like Rodney she’s left to wonder what she could have put up with just a few more seconds.

Aurora Hopkins

Aurora Hopkins takes the court, representing the defending FBA Champion Tallahassee Typhoons. She opens with two makes, shakes off a miss, and drains the fourth before the moneyball stays out, a strong enough start. From there, she erupts. At the left wing, she goes five-for-five including the moneyball, drawing the loudest cheer of the night so far. The top of the arc continues the run, the Somali Cat drops in four of five including another moneyball to stay red hot.

The right wing is nearly as impressive, with Hopkins cashing in the moneyball again after three of four regular makes. She sprints to the final rack and keeps firing with three quick makes in a row, before the buzzer sounds just as her final shot would have left her paws. Hopkins finishes at 22 points, riding an electrifying middle stretch that announces her as a true threat in this contest as she joins Tyriq at the top of the leaderboard.

Koa Cross

The rookie, the only one in the 3pt Contest here tonight in fact, Koa Cross approaches the line and opens well with two early makes and a moneyball to go with them, building a decent first rack. The left wing produces a more uneven stretch, with two makes in the back half but no bonus ball. Things pick up at the top of the arc, where Cross closes with three straight including the moneyball to salvage a strong mid-round moment.

The right wing is where the round begins to stall, four misses in a row before a late make, with the moneyball out of reach. Sprinting to the final corner, Cross fires three attempts that all miss before time expires, unable to get any points from the final station. A final score of 12 points reflects the streaky nature of the round and what one might expect from a rookie, we will have to see if Koa can get some redemption in the Rookie All-Star Game later this week. For not the Royal Spoonbill sits on the bubble.

Teresa Coyotl

Teresa Coyotl promptly puts on one of the most dominant shooting exhibitions of the contest. After a slow start at the left corner, three misses before connecting on the fourth and moneyball, she flips a switch and never looks back. The left wing is perfect: all five shots fall, including the moneyball. The top of the arc? All five again. The right wing? All five, moneyball included.

By the time she reaches the final rack, the crowd is on its feet, sensing something historic. Coyotl drains two, misses the third, then lands two more, including the final moneyball, to cap the round with authority. A stunning 26 points, with three perfect racks and moneyballs cashed at every station, is an almost untouchable total thanks to 19 straight makes. Teresa Coyotl has made a statement tonight.

Kyler Inari

Kyler Inari has a tough act to follow as he just watched the coyote make a statement. The Arctic Fox doesn’t waver as he settles in quickly at the left corner, shaking off a cold opener to drain three straight including the moneyball for a strong start. His left wing is nearly as good with two quick makes before a miss, then a fourth make, though the moneyball slips out. At the top of the arc, he's at his best: connecting on shots one, two, four, and the moneyball while the third refuses to cooperate.

The right wing follows a similar pattern of two makes, a miss, and a fourth make, but the moneyball doesn't fall this time either. Heading to the final rack with time shrinking fast, Inari's pacing catches up with him and he only gets one shot off before the buzzer sounds, costing him an entire station worth of points. He finishes at 16 points; a number that doesn't quite capture how well he was shooting on the makes he did take, but the missed moneyballs and rushed finish tell the other half of the story. He joins the crowded field sitting at 16, each of which hoping the remaining 5 competitors fail to break that total.

Xiaoxing Cuauhtli

Xiaoxing Cuauhtli steps to the corner and immediately looks more comfortable than he did last year, he has a strong start, connecting on four of five in the first rack, though the moneyball stays out. At the left wing, things are better: after an early miss, he drops in three in a row and cashes the moneyball, giving himself a 5-point rack. The top of the arc produces alternating makes and misses, with three of five connecting for another steady addition.

The right wing mirrors that pattern, the place where last year he fell apart, they hit the first, misses the next two, then closes with the moneyball for another 3-pointer. In the final rack, he gets just two shots off, both makes, before time expires. Cuauhtli ends at 18 points, a consistent performance across the board that bolts them ahead of the group stuck at 16.

Yigori Ryurikov

Yigori Ryurikov walks onto the court and proceeds to put together one of the most breathtaking starts of the competition, had Teresa not already done so this might have been the highlight of the 1st Round. The left corner? Perfect as all five shots fall. The left wing? Perfect again, moneyball and all. Ryurikov is shooting with stunning efficiency, seemingly unable to miss as he sprints through the first two stations.

At the top of the arc, a lone miss on the second shot briefly hints at mortality, but the moneyball drops and the four-rack run is otherwise intact. The right wing is faultless once more, five for five. By the time Ryurikov reaches the final corner, the crowd is counting along. He lands the first two before his third goes astray, and then time expires before he can attempt shots four and five. It's a minor blemish on an otherwise spectacular round, though had he gotten the 4th off in time he might have tied Teresa. The Sable finishes at 25 points, the product of a near-perfect display.

Mikaylah Marley

Mikaylah Marley opens the contest with a steady left corner, as expected of a veteran player, three makes from the middle of the rack, though the moneyball stays out. The left wing is where things cool off, with only a single make across the entire rack, leaving crucial points on the table early. The top of the arc sees her recover somewhat, three of five connect, before the right wing offers another two-make showing.

With the final rack approaching, Marley needs a strong finish to give herself any hope, but she can only manage one make in two attempts before the clock cuts her off. She finishes at 10 points, a tough night that was defined by the cold patches at the wing racks and the inability to find the moneyballs when she needed them most.

Carson Good

Carson Good takes the line and the dalmatian got right to work, opening with a make before a miss and then dropping three straight including the moneyball to close the first rack in style. At the left wing, he stumbles early with two misses before catching fire, three straight makes capped by the moneyball for a full 5-point rack that has the crowd buzzing. The top of the arc continues the good work, with Good connecting on four of five including the moneyball once again.

The right wing is similarly strong, three makes and the bonus ball, and Good is piling up points at an impressive clip. In the final corner, he sinks the first, misfires on the next two, and lands the fourth before the buzzer ends his round. He finishes at 21 points, a well-rounded effort driven by an almost unbroken run of moneyballs throughout the second half of his round. Good is firmly in the conversation for the top of the leaderboard and will move onto the next round.

Andrius Vilkasaitis

All eyes fall on the Eurasian Wolf, as Andrius Vilkasaitis needs at least 16 to force a 5-way tiebreaker battle for the last spot, or a 17 to eliminate the four furs on the bubble. The wolf starts off with a bang, after an early miss, he drops in three straight and the moneyball to put up a 5-point opening rack. The left wing is slightly less clean, but three of five connect to keep the momentum going. At the top of the arc, he encounters a tougher stretch, misses on shots one and three break up his rhythm, but he rescues the rack by landing both the fourth and the moneyball to finish strong.

The right wing is another excellent rack, with Vilkasaitis once again closing out the moneyball after three of four regular makes. In the final corner, time begins to close in, he connects on the second shot before the clock expires, giving him only a single point from the last station. He finishes at 18 points, a respectable showing built on strong moneyball conversion throughout the middle of his round. It's a score that puts him squarely into the next round. Arthur Selby, Eliza Mae duPont, Lorenz Valerio, and Kyler Inari eliminated.

Round 2

Teresa Coyotl

Coming off a dominant 26-point performance in the first round, Teresa Coyotl returns to the line carrying the weight of expectation and she answers it, at least for a while. The left corner is sharp: three straight makes to open, a miss on the fourth, but the moneyball swishes through to give her a 5-point rack. She duplicates the effort almost exactly at the left wing, three makes, miss on the fourth, moneyball cashed, and suddenly the crowd is wondering if she's going to put on another clinic.

The top of the arc is where round two begins to diverge from round one. She misses the opener and drops in three straight, but the moneyball refuses to fall for the first time all night, capping what should have been a big rack at just 3 points. The right wing follows suit, only two regular makes, though she rescues it with another moneyball to stay in contention. She finishes in the final corner with two more makes and a third moneyball, the clock winding down before she can truly pull away. 21 points locks in a solid number, but five fewer than her first round. The question now is whether it will be enough in a tighter field.

Yigori Ryurikov

If round one raised eyebrows, round two opens with Yigori Ryurikov threatening to do the same thing all over again. He sweeps the left corner clean with all four regular balls and the moneyball made…then does it again at the left wing. Then again at the top of the arc. Three perfect racks in a row, 18 points banked before he's even reached the right wing, and the crowd is holding its breath wondering if he can top his 25 from the first round.

Then the right wing happens. The sable misses the second ball, recovers with the third and fourth, but the moneyball goes begging, his first missed bonus of the entire night, across both rounds. He brushes it off and sprints to the final corner, where he lands the first ball, misses, then misses again, and the buzzer catches him before he can even release his fourth attempt. A run that looked like it might push toward 30 dissolves into 22 points, thanks to a cold finish that mirrored the exact pacing issues that clipped him in round one. Still a formidable score, but Ryurikov will be left wondering what might have been had the last two racks cooperated.

Tyriq Murphy

Tyriq Murphy arrives at the line having posted an impressive 22 in round one, but round two is a different story from the very first shot. He opens the left corner with a make, then watches the next three clank away before his moneyball drops to salvage the rack at 3. The left wing is similarly choppy, alternating makes and misses, no moneyball, and by the time he reaches the top of the arc, he needs something to change.

He gets it, briefly. The top rack produces three makes and his second moneyball of the night for a 4-point effort that finally feels like the Murphy from the first round. The right wing, though, goes cold again, one make from the first four, before the moneyball bails him out once more. He finishes the night strongly in the final corner, drilling three in a row, but falls one touch short of the moneyball before time expires. 15 points is a steep fall from the 22 he posted in round one. Murphy will need to find that first-round rhythm again if he want to stand a chance in the final round, but first he needs his competitors to falter.

Aurora Hopkins

Aurora Hopkins made a statement in round one with 22 points and a blistering mid-round stretch, and she steps into round two looking to build on it — but the left corner refuses to cooperate. She hits her third ball and nothing else, picking up just a single point from the opening rack and already in a deeper hole than she ever found herself in round one.

She doesn't panic. The left wing sees her catch fire with three straight makes and the moneyball for a 5-point surge that rights the ship in a hurry. The top of the arc is a more measured 4-pointer, makes on the first and fourth with the moneyball, before she mirrors that effort at the right wing. With time running short as she reaches the final corner, Hopkins closes like a freight train, drilling all four regular balls in succession before the buzzer catches her just as she reaches for the moneyball. Four clutch makes at the end, but the missed bonus stings. 18 points feels like a reflection of that one rough opening rack, take that away and she's staring at something much more dangerous.

Carson Good

Carson Good made his mark in round one with a steady 21, powered largely by a near-perfect run of moneyballs through the second half of his round. Round two brings a very different story, at least early on. The left corner produces an alternating make-miss pattern with no moneyball. The left wing is slightly better, three makes, but the bonus stays out again. By the third rack, the pattern repeats, and Good has amassed just 7 points through fifteen shots without a single moneyball in sight.

Then rack four arrives, and it's like a completely different shooter stepped to the line. He sweeps all five balls, four regulars and the moneyball, for a perfect 6-point rack that suddenly brings him back into contention. He carries that energy into the final corner, knocking down three straight before the clock runs out before he can reach the final moneyball. A 6 and a 3 to close out saves what had been a forgettable opening nine. 16 points is a step back from his first-round showing, but the rack four explosion is a reminder that Good is always one hot stretch away from being dangerous.

Xiaoxing Cuauhtli

Xiaoxing Cuauhtli came into round two after a steady 18-point effort, and he picks up right where he left off, alternating makes at the left corner, but banking the moneyball for 4 points. The left wing, however, is the kind of rack that can unravel a round: just one make across the five balls, offering almost nothing.

He responds at the top of the arc with two early makes and the moneyball, and then matches it exactly at the right wing with two makes, two misses, and the bonus ball to tack on 4 more points at each station. By the time he reaches the final corner, she's in a decent position, and he presses, drilling three straight before time expires just as he lines up the fourth regular ball, never even reaching the moneyball. 16 ties him with Carson, now the two will have to see if Andrius or Rodney knock them out or if they are heading to a Tiebreaker.

Andrius Vilkasaitis

Andrius Vilkasaitis posted 18 points in round one and made clear he had more in him. Round two is his proof. He shakes off a miss on the second ball at the left corner and responds with three straight, moneyball included, to post 5. The left wing is equally sharp: three makes and another bonus ball for another 5-point rack. Then the top of the arc happens. All four regular balls fall. The moneyball falls. A perfect 6-point rack that detonates the crowd and announces that Vilkasaitis is here to win, not just compete.

He carries it into the right wing, where he misses the second ball but connects on the other three plus the moneyball for another 5-pointer. By the time he reaches the final corner, he's already at 21 points with time still on the clock. He misses the first but lands the second and third before the buzzer cuts him off mid-rack. 23 points, five more than his first-round total, and the best score of round two thus far. Vilkasaitis has gone from a player in the mix to one everyone else is chasing.

Rodney Blackburn

Rodney Blackburn came into round two off the back of a 17-point first round that always felt a little unfinished, and he'll leave round two with that same feeling, only amplified. The left corner starts reasonably, alternating makes on shots one and three, but there's no moneyball to go with them. The left wing is where the round truly begins to come apart: four consecutive misses, the only point saved by a moneyball that drops almost apologetically at the end of the rack.

He finds his footing at the top of the arc, three makes and the moneyball for 5 points, and then repeats the effort at the right wing to keep himself in the conversation. For a moment it feels like a potential recovery is on. But the final rack extinguishes it almost immediately. He misses the first ball, and the buzzer catches him before he can even attempt a second, leaving the entire last station essentially blank. Two strong middle racks buried under a disastrous opening wing and a completely shutout finish, Blackburn locks in at 14 points, a result falls well short of the needed total.

Final Round

Andrius Vilkasaitis

What a run it has been. Andrius Vilkasaitis arrived at round one and left with 18 points and a sense that he hadn't fully shown his ceiling. Round two blew the roof off putting up 23 points, including a perfect rack at the top of the arc, the best score of the second round and a clear declaration of championship intent. Now, in the final, he steps to the line as the first shooter of the night, knowing the number he puts up is the one everyone else has to chase.

The left corner is methodical perfection, all four regular balls fall cleanly, but the moneyball refuses to drop, and 4 points is the return. He repeats the feat identically at the left wing: four-for-four on the regulars, moneyball out again. Eight points from ten shots without a single bonus ball, but the purity of his regular shooting is quietly daunting. Then the top of the arc shifts everything. He misses the opener, settles in, and drains three straight regular balls before the moneyball finally drops, giving him the 5-pointer the round needed. The right wing follows suit, three more makes, another moneyball, and suddenly Vilkasaitis has found his moneyballs back to back right when it matters most.

He sprints to the final corner with 18 points and his composure completely intact. He knocks in the first, the second, and the third in rapid succession before the buzzer sounds with the fourth ball still in his hand. Three points from the last rack, for a final score of 21. It's a number built on relentless execution, not flashy, not perfect, but deeply competitive. The two missed moneyballs early sting, but 21 is on the board and every shooter left in the field now knows exactly what they're up against.

Yigori Ryurikov

Yigori Ryurikov has been the most electrifying presence in this competition from the moment he swept his first three racks in round one. He backed it up with 22 in the second round after another blazing start. Now he steps to the line knowing Vilkasaitis's 21 is the target, and his opening rack immediately makes the crowd believe.

He opens the left corner with a miss on the second ball, but quickly makes it irrelevant by connecting on the other three and burying the moneyball. Five points. The left wing mirrors it almost exactly, miss on the opener, three makes, moneyball, another 5. The top of the arc continues the theme: miss the first, make the next three, cash the moneyball. Three racks, three times he's started the rack with an early miss and answered every time with the moneyball. Fifteen points through fifteen shots, and the crowd is beginning to sense that Vilkasaitis's 21 might not hold.

Then the right wing hits. Three straight misses to open, the coldest stretch Ryurikov has had across any round of this contest, before he recovers to land the fourth regular ball and the moneyball. Three points from a rack that looked like it might yield nothing. He storms into the final corner needing four points to tie, five to win, and immediately makes two, but time is closing fast, and the buzzer catches him mid-motion on the fourth attempt. Two more points, and the championship slips away by a single point. 20 his lowest of the three rounds, and a heartbreaking echo of every round Ryurikov has shot: dominant for long enough to make you believe, then just slightly undone at the very end.

Teresa Coyotl

Nobody in this building needed reminding what Teresa Coyotl is capable of. She torched the field with 26 in round one, three perfect racks, moneyballs at every stop, and held firm with 21 in the second. She arrives at the final needing to push past Vilkasaitis's 21, and given what she's shown over the previous two rounds, the crowd has every reason to think she can do it.

It starts well enough with three makes at the left corner, but the moneyball stays out. Then the left wing falls apart. One make. One point. For the first time across three rounds, Coyotl looks genuinely rattled, and the gap to 21 suddenly feels enormous. She rallies at the top of the arc with three more makes, but again the moneyball refuses to cooperate. The right wing squeezes out 3 points, one make, one moneyball, and a look at the scoreboard makes clear that a comeback is all but mathematically impossible before she even reaches the final corner. She connects on three of four regular balls in the last rack, but can't find the bonus ball to close it out with any kind of punctuation.

13 points. A stunning fall from the woman who posted 26 just two rounds ago, and nowhere near enough to threaten Vilkasaitis's lead. The moneyballs that carried her through the first two rounds almost completely abandoned her this round, just one across the entire round, and that, more than anything, tells the story of Coyotl's run. A competitor who looked untouchable early is going home without the trophy.

Aurora Hopkins

Aurora Hopkins has been the quiet threat of this entire competition. She opened with 22, came back with 18 in a round defined by one terrible opening rack, and now steps to the line last with a clear picture of what she needs: 22 to beat Vilkasaitis's 21 and take the title, or try to push Andrius to a Tiebreaker and see if the wolf can repeat his performance. If there's one thing her previous two rounds have shown, it's that she's always one hot stretch away from the number that changes everything, and the final delivers exactly that, for a while.

The left corner is steady rather than spectacular, two makes and the moneyball for 4 points, enough to set a foundation. Then the left wing ignites. She drops all four regular balls and the moneyball without a single miss, a perfect 6-pointer that echoes the best stretches of her round one and sends the arena into a frenzy. She's done this before, and she's doing it again on the biggest stage, with ten points through ten shots and the championship genuinely within reach.

The top of the arc carries the energy forward, two makes and the moneyball for 4 more, and then she matches it exactly at the right wing to stay right on pace. Racing to the final corner, Hopkins sits at 18 points and needs just 4 from the last five balls to win it all. She reaches for the first…miss. The second…miss. The third…miss. Then the fourth drops, and for one breathless moment the crowd thinks she might still have time. But the buzzer sounds before she can even raise the moneyball off the rack. One point from the last five attempts, when she needed four. 19 points is the final tally, and Vilkasaitis holds on by two. Hopkins has been exceptional across all three rounds, and the third place finish is no insult, but the way it ended, so close and so sudden, will be the image that lingers.
