Jace Lindin Guylar is a Professinal FBA basketball player, drafted for the Albany Alphas selected 27th overall in the 2025 FBA Draft, along side with Mini Berry, who was selected 3rd in the 2025 draft.
Biography
Early Years (2006/2018)
Jace was born in New Zealand, in the city hospital of Hamilton. He had a family who was pretty well-known in their hometown, Mangakino. He plays with his two siblings outside, all day playing on their school’s playground because their aunty is the principal of their school, and they have free access to it. Jace had a nice loving family, and a great childhood overall. At 9 years old, he started playing sports like rugby, soccer, baseball, and, of course, his favourite sport, basketball. He plays at his school's outdoor basketball court with his siblings, cousins and friends all day, hot, cold, raining, windy, etc. He plays it like it was his life, because in his words: “Basketball is like a friend that understands you, it doesn't complain, asks too many questions, it just bounces, and it comes right back at ya.” He loved it like it was his best friend. His parents saw him play basketball all night outside, and think to themselves: “Maybe we should sign him up for basketball tryouts?”
The Rise and Fall, but Rise again (Highschool Years 2019-2023)
A few years later, Jace was the best player on his high school basketball team as a freshman. Even though he was a ball-hogger and rarely passed to his teammates, he still made his shots and played insane defense for his team, having a 29-3 record (the best record in his school’s history). But on March 4th, 2020, in a basketball game playoff, he broke his left ankle after someone placed their foot in his landing area. The injury was so bad that he was limping for the next few months. Not only was their championship run done, but he thought that this was the end of his basketball career. But thankfully, that was a blessing in disguise. When his cast was removed his other leg had gotten so much stronger from favoring it all these months that he could push off and jump even higher than before. For the first time he dunked the ball. It was that moment that Jace's passion re-ignighted for the game and he would commit himself fully to it.
Throughout his senior year, Jace won pretty much any award you can name and was ranked as the best basketball player in New Zealand, averaging 29 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assist, and 3 blocks per game. But Jace wanted real competition and to face off against real basketball players who loved the sport more than he does. So that’s when his coach, Richard Bay (English Bulldog), called up his old friend who was college head coach for the Kirkwood Rippers and told him, “Hey Red? Do you want a basketball player who plays exactly like Leon Delmont on the court, but he’s shorter and a better shooter than him?” And when he saw those highlights, he gave him the offer to play for his team straight away, and had to move straight into America.
The Odd Ball in the USA (1st College Year 2023-2024)
After he moved to America, he attended Kirkwood University in Oakland, but Jace felt like he was the odd one in the team because he was the only overseas player there. His coach Red (Fennec Fox) said, “You’ll be fine, and everyone in this team is treated like a family.” Which stuck to him. When drills had started for a scrimmage game, he did not disappoint, dropping 38 points in that match. And Red knew that he got a player he needed.
After his tryout and drills (his leaping abilities were officially listed at 42” inch vertical), he was respected by his teammates and his coaches, and Jace already felt like he was at home. The next day on training before the season was starting, most of the players were bulking up trying to get stronger, but Jace was different and stuck to his other options, stretching and doing yoga. His reasoning was because he wanted to be flexible and agile, plus he wanted to play the entire season without getting injured as well. Even though he could get bullied in the paint by a stronger player, at least he can still get up and walk it off like it was a scratch.
In his first season, his team started off shaky at first because he still played like he was in high school, not passing the rock and taking bad shots. It was so bad his teammates started doubting him already, and one of the guards told the coach to get him out of the starting line. But Red had faith in him, and he just needed to build character and start making better choices, and he was right, because Jace started playing better, getting wins, and showing some leadership when their games were getting tight. He Averaged over 15 points with 48 FG%, 37 3PT%, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, with 1 steal and block as well. Their team they fell short getting in their playoff, ending their season.
Great to start off. Horrific to end off (2nd College Year 2024-2025)
Next season, he started learning his teammates' skill sets, learned how to pass and make smart plays with the ball better, worked harder on his game through his limits, and started playing into different roles when the coach needed him to. During the middle of the season, his teammates started calling him “The Hitbox,” because every game he played, he always got fouled 5 to 6 times a game and walked into the free point line, sinking almost all of them. Most fans said that he was a free throw merchant and wouldn't have any success if he got drafted in the FBA, but Jace didn’t care because he was already a complete player at a very young age, averaging 23 points with 50% FG, 39% 3PT, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks a game. But sadly he lost in the semi-finals after he scored 36 points and 12 rebounds in that game to a Wolf named Scott Hayes. Jace felt embarrassed in that match, despite him putting up good numbers in that run, but it doesn't mean anything if you lost. Even though the media said it was one of the biggest choke jobs of all time, he still wanted to prove those doubters wrong.
An unexpected calling
He was deciding to play another season with Kirkwood, until the FBA offered him a letter that he had a chance to join in the 2025 FBA draft. He was considering to decline and stay just to win a title for his school, until he got a call that his family had sold their house because of their finance problems, and most of their family had moved into different cities, which they had nowhere to go. After hearing that, he was scared that his family might be homeless, so he accepted the offer for the FBA to help his family because he knows how well FBA players get paid in the league.
So, with a new chapter in his book, and Jace waiting for any FBA managers to figure out how good or useful he could be, he’ll just gotta wait and pray if any 24 teams are gonna pick him.
Draft Combine
He was ranked 2nd out of 48th in the draft combine, he did amazing, coming 3rd in standing vertical jump and 1st in moving vertical jump. Unluckily for him, he wasn't invited to play in the FBA combine game.

| Jace Guylar's Rant - He's alright but I'm better Written by Coyzn © Coyzn |

| Jace walks in the conference room as he finally arrives in Albany, New York. There were a couple of interviewers shouting his name to pick just so they could ask him a question about his draft day or his new team etc. As he sat down on the FBA court chairs, he picked the Golden Retriever lady with glasses to be her first question of the day.
“The Ma’am with the glasses.” He pointed to her with a gentle tone. She got up out of her seat and pulled her notepad out. “Jace, Serena Carpenter here. I just wanna congratulate you on being a member of the Albany Alphas.” As to make him feel a lot more welcome here in the state of New York. “Thank you.” in a calm manner. “And many critics said that you might have some low expectations coming into the league as well. Any thoughts about that?” She pressed the button on her pen so she could write about Jace’s opinion for her comment. Jace started to look at the door to see if the team staff had left, and luckily for him they did. He looked back at them and gave a deep breath and let out a sigh, and then told the interviewers his real answer. “Well… To those so-called critics who think I have low expectations coming into the league are gonna have to eat their own words…” He said in full confidence in front of the entire interviewers. Almost the entire conference room laughed. “Don’t laugh… I’m deadass serious…” The interviewers quickly stopped “To those scouts who reported on me thinking that I’ll be a ‘GrEaT rOlEpLaYeR oR a SuPpOrtInG rOlE’ at best needs to be either fired or wake the hell up…” Saying in a pressing tone like he felt offended hearing his scouting report. “Like, I should’ve been a lottery pick with the rest of those guys and gals, but my agent told me I was going to be an early 2nd rounder AT BEST, and when I heard that, I was like, ‘Do y’all not know who I am?’ Like SERIOUSLY!?” As he started pointing to himself in the chest like he was one of the best FBA players already. “I came in second place in the entire combine drills, and I didn’t even get invited to the combine game AT ALL!?! And I got snubbed by RHYS DRESDEN OUT OF ALL PEOPLE!?! And keep in mind he was 41st place out of those 48 players in that combine. He can’t jump, he can barely run and shoot, and he grabs the same boards as me; yet Huntsville still picked him 12th pick OVER ME!?” He waves his arms in a confused way as if the math wasn’t adding up. “Sure, he may be stronger than me, but anyone can work for a physique and strength like that; I can work for a physique like that. As a matter of fact, I’m going to start bulking up from now on and show it to y’all…” As he promised himself to bulk up (AND HE WILL). “And the so-called top 5 picks, like Roann for example, like didn't he embarrass himself in the clutch moment at the combine game by trying to do a flashy pass just to get the ball stolen from him to lose, and you still picked him first? The second pick, D’Onte, the best 2-way player in the class, can guard anyone but me because I dropped 27 points on his head. The third pick, Mini, who is also my new teammate, is the best rim protector in the class, just got fouled out by me and my other teammate IN THE FIRST HALF. The fourth pick, Jesús, an interior big, can defend and block anyone in the paint until a Huntaway dog says ‘otherwise’ by putting him into a poster. And the fifth pick, my teammate, Halley—he can ball, but I’m still better than him by scoring, rebounding, and blocks." As he said to lash out on those top 5 players who were picked way before him. “And to “The Albany Alphas” team that drafted me, you got the steal of a century… And I will make this team get to the promised land again since the 2016 glory days and avenge the 2022 Alphas for losing game 7.” He points his finger down and makes banging noises on the table to make his statement. “But hey, I'm just a deep reserve bench player… I can grind for that starting spot If I work hard for it. That Jonas Acosta guy at the starting line-up, he’s alright… but… I’m better… He may be better than me now, but next year or the year after that, that starting spot is as good as mine. I WILL lead this team to a chip again if they trust me on this one, because I’m exactly what this team needs. A dog that’s desperate to win, a dog that works harder than any other animal who works, a dog that wants to prove himself that he’s better than Leon, Aurora, Terry, Jake or even Halley Summers himself.” He paused for a moment, and thought about what he wanted to say to get the interviewers stunned, and he did find his answer then said this. “You are about to see not only the best 2nd round FBA player in history, but one the greatest FBA players of all time. I won’t stop until I get that goal I desire, I will train to the anthropomorphic limit just to be the best. I will get titles, awards, and anything you can think of in the FBA. I will be great… And I will be better…” The interviewers were stunned after hearing Jace’s rant and just when they were about to ask another question, Jace got up and left and said. “Thank you guys for your time. I got practice to attend…” |
