"Rob was born while his parents were taking part in a religious mission in Mozambique. Though he only spent two years in the country before his family returned to the United States, Rob spent much of his life into his late 20s claiming that the culture of Mozambique had a profound impression on him, at times even presenting himself using the traditional name of a tribe that his parents were attempting to convert.

Rob had a great deal of success in dunk contests during his time in the FBA. During his first dunk contest, his final dunk involved theatrical elements that many afterwards identified as being charicatures of stereotypical 'tribal' behavior. This incident drew criticism, and also led to the public interrogating the way he presented himself. In subsequent years, Rob has apologized for his actions, and has taken active steps to improve his behavior."
