Biography

Born within a community just a block away from the beach in Huntington Beach, California, Adam grew up figuratively with sand within his fur-strands and the crashing ocean waves permenantly providing melody to his ears. His parents treated surfing as more than just a hobby; they were professionals at the sport. His father shocked the surfing community by winning the US Open Championship of Surfing (Fur Division) in 1997, becoming the first Viverrid to do so, and many experts in the pro surfing circles felt Adam will follow in his footsteps.

In Junior High School, he felt content to have the 'stereotype' of a beach bum among his peers but he also had a lesser known love for a sport that usually doesn't involve water or sand: basketball. Whenever he's at the beaches and not carrying a surfboard or in a wetsuit, he would be at the outdoor basketball courts either practicing shots or involved in a pick-up game. Although his father would've liked for Adam to become a professional surfer like himself, he tolerated Adam's love for basketball even as he started to lure away from the waves and more onto the basketball courts. Since the seventh grade and through High School, Adam was involved in school basketball where coaches trained him to play the game in more structured ways. His growth spurt came early, overtowering many of his school peers but while coaches had placed him as a Center, Adam always felt much more comfortable as a Forward, scoring shots from the perimeter and also not hesitant to push his way to the basket. He became known as a proficient free-throw shooter and shooting amid the perimeter, and in fact even through playing in UFLA, a decent sizable percentage of his average points per game came from foul shooting. Despite his talents on the court, his decision to become eligible for the FBA Draft was still controversial, mostly because his father intitially opposed such an idea. However when he realized that his son could shine better on the courts than riding the waves, he finally (perhaps grudgingly) gave him his blessing and supported him.

2014 Rookie Combine

Despite not medalling in any single event, Adam Tevela's consistency won him the Silver Medal at the 2014 Ironfur Combine. He had been accepted to play in the 2014 Rookie Combine games in Huntsville.
