Tie-breaker seeding is determined by the speed at which the shooter reached the final score, in the case of the four-way tie for 5th Matthew Silvius reached that score the fastest in 57.8 seconds while Kresta Renstill reached it the slowest in 59.8 seconds.
=====Overview=====
And with that the first round of the 3pt contest comes to a close! The thinnest of margins separates players from the Second Round as we see rookies, veterans, and a former 3pt champion fall in the first round! A four-way tie between for the 5th seed was a little unexpected, but with the level of talent here this week, it should not have taken me by surprise.
Leading the way into the Second Round will be Derek Kim, who came out on fire here tonight, missing only five buckets from beyond the arc! But he will have to keep that amazing consistency up if he hopes to stand a chance, as not far behind this round was two veterans of the competition Lance Wildfyre and Jonathan Lawyer. These two players are repeat finalists for this competition and showed how much that experience pays off, as both kept cool and calm despite the pressure, both posting 20+ score rounds.
The surprise of the round has to go to a newcomer of the competition, Yesina Selas, who despite not completing her last rack, leaving two balls un-shot, she still managed to put up 20 points! Despite the pressure of shooting second to last and knowing the high mark she had to meet she managed to even surpass the 19 points needed to force a tie and leaped up into the 4th place for the round!
The remaining competitors moving on include a former champion Kresta Renstill, who barely scraped into the next round with only .2 seconds left on her final shot, a veteran 3pt contestant, Matthew Silvius, who is still looking to make his first 3pt Finals appearance, Aurora Goldshine, who is looking to make a deep run in the 3pt Contest for the first time since her defeat in the Finals back all the way in 2015 to Jake Velox, and lastly Kaspar Kuusik, who bounced back from last year's disastrous showing where he only put up 8 points.
These eight players will move onto the 2nd Round!
=== Semi-Finals ===
The order in this round will be determined by previous rounds performance, starting with the top seed and progressing down the ranking.

Coming into Round 2 the kkachi is flying high after dominating the first round! That gives him a chance to set the pace here in Round 2 as he will go first.
====Jonathan Lawyer====

Unfortunately, the bird struggles to find consistency early on! Miss, make, miss, make; back and forth it goes through the first four racks before he finally finds his shooting stroke and puts up an impressive seven straight to finish the round with a score of 18. While a respectable score, given the talent coming up the question on everyone's mind is if it will be enough.

The rabbit from Bangor takes the court second, in terms of All-Star Week Lance is a favorite and is still looking to notch up a win here in the 3pt-Contest after finally managing to win the Dunk Contest two years ago.
====Mikaylah Marley====

Starting the round the rabbit is absolutely on fire! Perfect through the first rack and quickly moves onto the second where he continues his tear until he finally misses on the 10th shot, unfortunately that is also the money ball of the rack. But nonetheless that early start is more then enough momentum to help carry him through a middling third and fourth rack breaking a little better than even there before finishing off strong in the final rack with only .5 seconds to spare after making the final money ball.

Very quickly Lance has taken center stage here and put the upcoming competitors on notice, the new score to beat is 22!

Another veteran of the 3pt contest is up next, the meerkat from Dakota has found himself in the finals the past two years, both times unable to snatch away a victory here as he now walks onto the court, forced to followup after such a great performance from Lance Wildfyre.
====Kaspar Kuusik====

And perhaps the pressure is being felt as he misses five of his first ten shots here on the first two racks! But he looks to have recovered as he moves through this third rack with a perfect showing...and he doesn't look like he's ready to stop anytime soon as he continues his streak into the fourth rack! Oh, just barely misses the fourth of the rack ending his impressive streak of nine but he continues on an absolute roll hitting the final six shots. An unreal showing on the back half where Lawyer went 15 for 16 there...setting a new top score for the round at 23!

The lemur from Plymouth is up next. Many were surprised by her First Round showing as she blew past most of the favored competitors to nab the 4th highest score.
====Edwin Griega====

And whatever pressure she must be under is clearly not enough to affect her as she's shooting well here early, aside from the first ball just rolling out she finishes the first rack with four measured shots. Though the wheels on start to fall off as she moves through the next three racks with crucial misses on each of the racks money balls putting her well behind the pace of the rest of the competitors. And it looks like she knows it too as she's taking her time here on the last rack...one, two, three good so far but oh no! The buzzer sounds with two racks still left on the rack and she does not look happy with her performance.

With a final score of 15 Yesina Selas finds herself on the cusp of elimination with four shooters to go.

Matthew Silvius is up next, the Finals MVP still looking for his first finals appearance in this, his fourth attempt in this competition.
====Vera La Tierra====

He struggles to gain a rhythm through the first rack and it shows as he misses the first two in the second...but manages to put together a small streak of four into the third rack before the misses start up again. But the key money ball on the third rack gets a lucky bounce off the rim and helps him run up a rapid streak of five shots before finally missing on the fourth money ball. The last rack is a messy affair as he seems to be rushing through, perhaps concerned about making the same mistake as Yesina did but it's costing him as he misses three of the four first balls in the final rack. But the final money ball is good with 2.4 seconds on the clock though the weasel surely could have paced himself better, a score of 19 will knock out Yesina, but with three shooters left Silvius will have to watch to see if he moves on.

Aurora follows next, looking to slink back into the finals for the first time in many seasons here tonight.

Luck does not appear to be on her side early here though as she watches four of her first six shots bounce off the rim. It does not look like she will be able to shake off that tough start as she is struggling here through each rack, only managing to put up three at most per rack as she heads into the final rack...but this is where she makes her stand, hitting four of the last five shots to finish out the round with a score of 18, which currently ties her with Derek Kim for fourth place. With two shooters left to go both of these players now have to start mentally preparing themselves for the potential for a shootout to determine who moves on should the next two shooters fail to eliminate them.

The sophomore lynx from Biloxi is up next. Kaspar Kuusik bombed out of last years 3pt Contest finishing in last place, but has turned it around here tonight as he now looks to make it to the Finals!

He starts off extremely well with an impressively fast first rack in under 9 seconds that nets him a cool five points quickly and the momentum carries over to the second rack as he racks up a five-shot streak that is unfortunately brought to an end on the second money ball. The following miss seems to rattle the young lynx as he is taking longer to get off his shots, not sure whether it's fatigue or being overly cautious but time is ticking as he moves to the final rack...and there's the buzzer. Just like Yesina Kaspar will leave two balls un-shot on the final rack.

His final score of 18 also adds him to the list of competitors faced with the potential of a tiebreaker round...as all eyes shift towards the last competitor who can potentially eliminate all three of them.

The reigning 3pt Champion Kresta Renstill will go last here tonight. Three players already through to the final round, while three more watch on. Their hopes of moving on depending on how the fox performs here.

And she's off to a blistering pace! The first rack goes smoothly as she moves onto the second where she doesn't even break a sweat as she hits all five in a row and continues her growing streak all the way to nine before finally missing in the third rack but she recovers quickly and hits the final two giving her a score of 16 with only ten balls to go. But as quickly as the fell for her in the third rack the basketball gods seemed to turn on her in the fourth. Each one bouncing off the rim leaving her with only five balls to go and still needed two points to force a tie. Moving onto the final rack she hits the first! But any excitement is quickly squashed as she misses the next three...it all comes down to the final ball. She makes it and she's through to the finals, eliminating the three players on the sideline. She grabs the ball and goes through her motion, the buzzer and her release are so close together it's tough to tell whether she got it off in time...but it's good! But we are still waiting on the refs to confirm she got it off in time...and no, they are waving it off saying the ball didn't leave her pays until .1 seconds after the buzzer sounded. So close but the thinnest of margins of time will eliminate Kresta Renstill with a score of 17.

===Tiebreaker Round 2===

Tiebreaker order will go based on the speed at which the competitor managed to reach the tying score last round, with the fastest going first and the slowest going second. Tiebreaker will repeat again if there is no winner after one round until there is only one winner.

Kaspar will start us off here in the Tiebreaker round as he reached the score of 18 fastest of any of the three competitors. Will have to see if he ups his pace as last round he left baskets un-shot on the final rack.
====François Martineau====

He isn't off to a good start as he misses his first shot but quickly recovers and finishes up the first rack going three for five, the same percentage is repeated in the second rack but by missing the second money ball the lynx is putting himself in a tough spot if he's looking to set a high mark...but oh my god does he turn it on at the halfway point...two...four...nine in a row! As he misses a second money ball to end that long streak and he's starting to look tired as he misses the next two to follow as well before putting up one last shot before the buzzer. With a score of 18 he finds himself with the same score as last round...and the same questions to be asked if he did enough as he walks off, two balls still left on the final rack due to his pace.

Goldshine is walking onto the court next, she needs to exceed her own score last round if she wants to eliminate Kuusik and put the pressure on Kim.
====Alessandro Serra====

Consistency is once again an issue as she struggles through the first two racks, missing both money balls before a back and forth of making and misses occurs in the third rack. Though it at least culminates in her first money ball as she moves into the back half of the balls. Finally she finds her rhythm! On the brink of elimination she hits eight in a row before fatigue finally sets in and she struggles to even make the final three shots hit the rim. But with a score of 18 she might be in trouble, should Derek fail to score higher her and Kaspar will be heading into another tiebreaker shootout and she is starting to look very winded from all these shots.

After patiently waiting on the sidelines it is now Kim's turn. He needs to at least match his score of 18 from last round to continue to a second tiebreaker but he has the chance here to eliminate both competitors should he manage to one-up them.

His first shot is not good but it does not seem to bother the kkachi as he hits his next four with ease. Moving onto the second rack and...oh! He slipped a little trying to move to the second rack. He looks fine but it clearly slowed him down some as he tries to rush the first two shots to make up the last time he misses them both. He does recover and makes the next two but the money ball just won't fall for him this time. A clean transition to the third rack seems to help him reset as his form is back, hitting four of the five from the top of the arc. The fouth rack goes smoothly with the money ball going in bringing his total up to 16 with only five balls to go. The first is good, the second is as well so we'll at least see a tiebrea-- and the third is also good! With that we have our final competitor! Derek finishes out the rest of his rack, not sure if he lost track of his score or just wanted to be sure but he managed to hit one more to bring his final score up to 20 points! With that we can move onto the Finals.

===Finals===
Tie-breaker seeding is determined by the speed at which the shooter reached the final score, in the case of the four-way tie for 5th Narkissa Kassius reached that score the fastest in 58.2 seconds while Terry O'Toole reached it the slowest in 59.9 seconds.

The order in this round will be determined by previous rounds performance, starting with the top seed and progressing down the ranking.
===Tiebreaker Round 1===

Lawyer will start us off in this final round and the meerkat is looking like he means business with his first rack raining in five straight! That quick pace is threatened when he misses the next three shots but the meerkat takes a moment to reset himself as he finishes the rack with two makes, including the all-important money ball. Onto the third rack now...and another perfect one! That's two so far and he's continuing that streak into the next! Two...four...and oh just missing the money ball but that put him at a mind-blowing eleven shot streak! And he's looking to finish strong, despite missing the first one he manages to finish the rest of the rack cleaning with only 0.1 seconds left on the clock! And with that, the first shooter is finished...and man has he put up a daunting score of 24! Can any of the competitors hope to match that?

The rabbit is up next, he is not a newcomer to the finals here but will the pressure of Jonathan's score impact his performance? The first rack looks good with only one miss but that miss already puts him behind the pace of the meerkat...but, unlike the meerkat Lance goes perfect from the second rack! But two misses to follow up that streak put him right back on pace with Jonathan. A quick string of four makes as he moves through the fourth rack but he becomes streaky, make, miss, make, miss...make, now he has to be perfect if he hopes to at least tie Lawyer! The first shot from the last rack is good...OH NO, Lance misses the second one and you can tell by the frustrated grunt that he knows he just missed out once more on a 3pt Trophy, nonetheless, he finishes out the rack with two more makes and one miss out of pride. Finishing with a high score of 23, yet it won't be enough to knock off Lawyer from 1st place.

As Lance walks off the court Matthew prepares to walk on, after a quick fist bump with his teammate Jonathan he heads over to the first rack. Much like Lance, he starts off well, missing the middle ball of the first rack but finishing strong with the money ball. The next two racks are a disaster for the weasel though as he's unable to find a strong rhythm, quickly racking up four misses over the two. But each rack he hits the money ball which is the only thing keeping him close to Jonathan's pace as he moves into the fourth rack...and a disastrous miss on the first shot ratches the pressure up as now he has to be perfect on the last nine balls just to force a tiebreaker! The first four are good...but once again the first shot of the rack is his undoing as he misses once again. He finishes the remaining four shots going four for four...and it looks like he didn't keep track of his points as he looked at the scoreboard before it seemed to set in that he was just one point shy of a tiebreaker. Despite going five for five from the money ball, it just was not enough as Matthew ends with a final score of 23.

And our final shooter tonight, baring a tiebreaker, will be Derek Kim. So far Jonathan has managed to squeak by the thinnest of margins, can the kkachi be the one to finally overtake him? Like the past two competitors, he starts off well, making it all the way through the second rack with only two misses which puts him actually ahead of the pace set by the leader! Though that is quickly knocked off as a miss on the third rack puts him back on pace and oh no! A crucial miss on the money ball is going to hurt. Jonathan set up such a blistering pace in the middle thanks to that long streak and it's looking like the competitors here are struggling to match it. But Derek is not done yet! A perfect fourth rack will keep him in it. If he can finish with a perfect run here he'll take the crown, he can only afford one miss if he wants to at least take it to overtime....and the first shot of the last rack bounces out...and the second...just like that the hope dies. He finishes the rack out of pride but missing the final shot will cause him to finish with a score of 21.
And with that the first round of the 3pt contest comes to a close! For the first time in a few seasons we had a 3pt Contest without any rookies, and was it close! It took a 3-way tiebreaker battle to determine the final participant but now we have our top 8 moving on! And talk about the thinnest of margins separating these furs. An unprecedented six way tie for second and a three-way tie for eighth with a difference of only 5 points of first place and being eliminated!

~Ryan Eastman
Leading the way into the Second Round will be Kresta Renstill, who started us off having received the most votes from the fans. She had one of the best rounds, her score hampered by missing three money-ball shoots which kept her just outside of scoring 20, but nonetheless the 2018 3pt Champion will lead off in the Second Round! But the field behind her is no slouch. Matthew Silvius, Derek Kim, and Julian Cross-Kiraly have made it all the way to the final round before and look to steal the win for themselves. But perhaps the hungriest of all will be Lance Wildfyre, a three time finalist dating back all the way to [[2016 All-Star Week]], who looks to compliment his Dunk Contest Trophy with it's companion 3pt Contest Trophy.

'''Derek Kim Eliminated'''
The surprise of the round has to go to a Terry O'Toole, who crashed out of last years competition with the lowest score of 12; but has apparently worked hard on his consistency from beyond the arc, being a part of the six way tie for second place going into the 2nd Round. Question will be can the Sophomore keep up with the rest of the veteran field as the margin of victory shrinks with each round?

====Final Results====
But before we could wrap up the 1st Round in true FBA fashion we had a three competitors tie for the last spot! Last years champion Jonathan Lawyer and Alessandro Serra were just unable to exceed their 1st Round totals, putting up only 15 points. Whereas François Martineau moves on with an impressive 20 points; remember the high score from the 1st Round was 19 which surely gives the retriever confidence moving into the 2nd Round.

A very high scoring final round brings about a new champion! Congratulations to Jonathan Lawyer for being our 2019 FBA 3pt Contest Champion! Thank you all for joining me on the journey and thank you to all the competitors that came out tonight. I can't wait to see you all next year!
The last competitor moving on we have not talked about is Narkissa Kassius, who we have not seen in a 3pt Contest since the [[2017 All-Star Week]] where she fell out in the First Round. Yet her score this year was enough to have her join her fellow Albany Alpha Terry O'Toole into the Second Round.

2020 FBA 3-Point Shootout

The selected 16 3-point shooters, as voted by the fans, will face off through three rounds to see who's the best 3-point shooter in the league! Each round will consist of each player having one minute to shoot 25 balls, distributed in groups of 5 on racks surrounding the perimeter, with the last ball of each rack being worth 2-points instead of the usual 1-point. (These balls are referred to as the 'Moneyball'). The Top 8 scorers from the first round will move onto the Second Round, and from there the Top 4 will move onto the Finals. Whoever comes out on top in the Finals takes home the trophy! Should there be a tie at any point that would determine who moves onto the next round, a shootout will occur until the tie is broken between all relevant parties.

The Event took place canonically on Saturday, February 23 at 9 PM EST.

Overview

And with that the first round of the 3pt contest comes to a close! For the first time in a few seasons we had a 3pt Contest without any rookies, and was it close! It took a 3-way tiebreaker battle to determine the final participant but now we have our top 8 moving on! And talk about the thinnest of margins separating these furs. An unprecedented six way tie for second and a three-way tie for eighth with a difference of only 5 points of first place and being eliminated!

But perhaps the hungriest of all will be Lance Wildfyre, a three time finalist dating back all the way to 2016 All-Star Week, who looks to compliment his Dunk Contest Trophy with it's companion 3pt Contest Trophy.

But before we could wrap up the 1st Round in true FBA fashion we had a three competitors tie for the last spot! Last years champion Jonathan Lawyer and Alessandro Serra were just unable to exceed their 1st Round totals, putting up only 15 points. Whereas François Martineau moves on with an impressive 20 points; remember the high score from the 1st Round was 19 which surely gives the retriever confidence moving into the 2nd Round.

The last competitor moving on we have not talked about is Narkissa Kassius, who we have not seen in a 3pt Contest since the 2017 All-Star Week where she fell out in the First Round. Yet her score this year was enough to have her join her fellow Albany Alpha Terry O'Toole into the Second Round.

These are your eight players moving onto the Second Round!
