Alexander Whitaker (Arctic Fox, Born July 17th, 1986) is the current Dakota’s General Manager, having been hired to take over the role at the beginning of the 2017 Off-season.
Biography
Alexander can't remember a time when basketball was not apart of his life. Some of his earliest memories are of his father, a basketball coach for a DII school, bringing him along to his work. Alexander tagged along everywhere, from the locker room to the film room. It is safe to say all that time around the sport helped rub his father’s love of the sport onto the young kit. Though not athletic enough to play the game, Alexander still wished to pursue a career in the sport. After graduation high school he attended New York Carnivore & Predator University in the field of Sports Management. Through his school’s program he landed a two year interning position with the Pride from 2006 until his graduation in 2007.
With his experience and degree he found a job as a scout with the Dakota Bikers. He joined the organization during their ‘Golden Years’ and saw them at their best, watching them win five Division Titles and three FBA Championships. Though even with success, major changes were afoot in Dakota. With the former Taproots star, Vicki Turner, brought in to take over as GM in 2011 the front office staff was in flux over the next year. However it was not to the fox’s benefit, new management was being brought in from outside, and he realized his upward mobility was limited. That did not stop Alexander ambitions, as he found an opportunity with the recently relocated Tides. After five years with Dakota he accepted the position of Director of Player Personnel with the Bangor Tides. Though, his tenure with Bangor saw less success than he had hoped, the half decade was a roller-coaster of ups and downs. Opportunities would come full circle for the fox, at the end of the 2016-2017 season he was approached about returning to the Dakota Bikers, this time as General Manager. Even taking into account Dakota's poor previous season, it was an amazing opportunity that he quickly pounced on. Now he sits tasked with rebuilding the storied franchise.
Personality
An ambitious fox with an eye for talent. He can be a bit of a shrewd man, willing to give his honest opinion about a player and their value. As such he isn't afraid to let a player walk if they demand a contract that exceeds his perceived value...though he'll always look to still get something in return with a trade.
