Youth

The sports world runs deep in the Eastman household. Just witnessing one of the far too regular arguments over whether the Minutemen or Spirits should be on TV during family gatherings, and heaven forbid they were playing each other that day, to grasp the passion the Eastman family had for their sports teams. This was pressed upon the kids from an early age as well; from game day jerseys for all, to feather dye, the young Eastman’s were thrust into the world of sports. Ryan was no different.

He played the usual sports growing up, youth league baseball, basketball, and flag football. Though he ended up enjoying the sports more from the sidelines, watching the action unfold with the game ebbing and flowing back and forth between the two teams. As soon as he entered High School he joined their Journalism and School Newspaper, eventually becoming their Sports Editor. On top of that he joined the schools broadcasting team, which provided play-by-play and color commentary on the schools major sports.

FSPN

After graduating he attended Baltimore Interespecies University, where earned an Undergraduate Degree in Journalism. He caught a lucky break in his final year as he was able to earn an internship at FSPN, before being hired full time as an analyst in 2013.

Big break came when FSPN was looking to rebrand the FBA live-game coverage under the new SportsDen branding at the start of the 2016 season. Retired Alaska Arctics Forward Marcus Baylor had been locked down as one of the planned core and they were looking for other talent. In the end Marcus and Ryan clicked, the chemistry between the two was natural and the peacock was slotted as a regular on the broadcast. Originally slated as the Color Commentator, over the years Ryan’s role has evolved to include play-by-play commentary depending on who joins him in the booth.

Over the past half decade Ryan has grown to be one of the most recognized faces of FSPN, especially regarding their FBA coverage. Taking prominent roles in the draft broadcast and analysis since 2016, appearing on the majority of the SportsDens, and casting all FBA Finals’ series since the 2018 season.
