- Firestorm Hungry as they Beat The Typhoons on “Big Barrel” challenge night -

The Lorain firestorm were looking to continue on a great start of the season, as they would welcome the Typhoons on a Fire of hope night. Lorain wished to take the opportunity to get some room before the end of the year as the schedule gave them 2 huge homestands, culminating with a new year eve face off with their heated rivals, the Baltimore Spirits. But first thing first, they needed to take care of business against a worthy opponent in Tallahassee, a potential playoff roadblock.

It wasn’t looking like that at first thought, as the Typhoons, led by always MVP front runner Aurora Hopkins had a great day (26 pts, 11 assists, 4 steals) as they had a big first quarter and led the Firestorm at halftime by a score of 66-51. Then a rather funny situation at halftime, as the Firestorm had a “Big Barrel” challenge, where fans in attendance had to try to eat the “Big Barrel” burger, a confection made by “The Big Barrel” brewery and restaurant, collaborator of this promo night. As the challenge began, out of the blue, Typhoon star Astrid Viktorson would come storming in from the locker rooms demanding to participate, as she would then be given a chance, as she would then chomp down her burger in record time, even menacing other contestants to get theirs. Luckily no harm was done, as everyone was declared a winner and some of the Typhoons staff had to drag the feline back to the locker room.

While funny has it would be, the incident might had sparked the one responsible to the challenge itself, rookie Brandy Johansson, as she had a night on the score sheet (11 pts, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 3 blocks) as she shown great thing on how diverse her game can be, ever since Coach Lucifer decided to go with her on the starting line. Once again the Precinct atmosphere along with the resolve of the support cast stood up, as Tallahassee offense seemed to sputter out in the second half, as a dominating 31-18 fourth quarter would seal the deal for a 111-106 victory for Lorain. Brandy Johansson would earn her first career POTG near her birthday, putting the final touch on one memorable night.
