To begin, my sincerest apologies again for scaring you so soundly with last year's big offer to Mr. Clarke. It was a calculated risk, intended to light a fire under your feet and show that this was a "prove it" year. Thank God that actually happened, because boy am I bad at math, and I'd hate to have ended up with an absolute zero to show for that one. Anyway. You've improved massively and become our center of the future, Mr. Dukes. You've left no doubts as to your worthiness of not just a contract extension, but a financially lucrative one as well. I want you to stay in Anchorage for as long as it takes to bring Arctics fans a championship, perhaps even multiples of them. I can't think of any center in the league I'd rather have leading the charge than yourself. You proved me wrong, in the best way possible, and without even a hint of animosity or bad blood. Thank you for letting your game do the talking, rather than letting your words cloud the waters. This contract should treat you well, with the possibility of renegotiation should the need arise.
