The Spirits held off a late rally by the visiting Mayors in the fourth quarter to maintain their lead all the way to the final buzzer.

With Baltimore opting to spend most of pre-season week with extra time at training camp, it was no surprise when their regular starting line was announced for this match against most of Huntsville's bench. It was also no surprise that the five Spirits' veterans all nearly scored in double digits, with Brax Trenor (Grey Hare, F) missing a double-double by a point and a board. What was surprising was the Mayors' rally in the final frame, sparked by Telki Holland (Chinchilla, G) stripping the eventual Player of the Game Coburn Richardson (Roadrunner, G) and dishing the rock to former Baltimore draft pick Gerald Puck (Coyote, G) who managed to stop on a dime to get space from the speedy PCH and drill a 3-pointer from the shoulder.

Hourglass led her team back to within four points of the home club, but could not close the gap any further, losing the game by six points. She did outscore everyone on the court with 19 points in a losing effort, followed up by Jim McCormick (Badger, G/F) with his 17 points. Franchise player Silvia Windcreek (Silver Hare, G) led the Spirits on the scoreboard with 16 points, followed by last year's #1 draft pick Mathiyazhagan Balasubramaniam (Malabar Giant Squirrel, F) with his 14.
