The Furry International Basketball Association (FIBA) was created in 2005 to act as an administrative body over numerous professional-level basketball leagues throughout the world. Despite its power, it generally stays in the background and allows the leagues to operate on their own for the most part, but all general regulations must pass a FIBA-appointed committee. Based out of Brussels, Belgium, the FIBA determines the world rankings of national basketball teams each year, and also controls the FIBA World Basketball Cup which will have its first tournament in 2025. Although the United States national basketball team is a member of FIBA, their primary professional league, the FBA, is not a FIBA affiliate.

FIBA Affiliates

EFBL (European Furry Basketball League)
NKBL (Nippon Kemono Basketball League)
FBL-AUS (Furry Basketball League - Australia)

FIBA Rules

While the FIBA rules for basketball are often similar to that of the FBA, there are a few notable differences.

  • 10 Minutes in each quarter, no OT periods
  • 3-pt arch is 6.75 meters (6.60 on baseline) in comparison to FBA's 7.24 meters (6.70 on baseline)
  • Only a maximum of three players from different nationalities from the host country are allowed to be part of a team roster.
