It was an exhibition of international star power that led the visiting Arctics to victory over the hosting Mayors.

Sophomore Ambrose Slade (Eurasian Lynx, G) celebrated a homecoming and reunion with his former teammates and fellow British ballers Steven Standard (Stoat, G) and D’Angelo MacQuilkin (Lion, G) by leading all players on the scoreboard with 25 points, followed right behind by JuJu's 24 points. The two ex-London Jets seemed to go at each other in a tit-for-tat offensive assault, trading buckets and rebounds while working with their respective clubs to keep the game entertaining. Despite Alaska's 10-point gap at the end of the first quarter, Huntsville rallied to end the first half only down by one, despite a collision near the beginning of the second quarter between Leo Seppala (WolfDog, G) and Todd Hu (Eastern Dragon, C) that resulted in sidelining both players with injury. The solid play by veteran Cliff Matthiews (Canadian Lynx, G) and rookie Alessandro Serra (Weasel, G) in the Arctics' backcourt brought the visitors close to regaining that double-digit lead in the second half, but a strong effort by the Mayors' veteran Jim McCormick (Badger, G/F) and rookie Cloricia Teixeira (Coyote, G) kept the home team in contention into the final minutes of play. Unfortunately, Huntsville ran cold and unlucky when they needed their shots to fall, and were forced to go to intentionals that Alaska had no problems converting.

Besides Slade, five other Arctics scored in double digits: fellow lynx Matthiews with 12, brothers Bobby Baylor (Polar Bear, F/C) and Marcus Baylor (Polar Bear, G/F) with 15 and 10 each, Serra and Carl Esteban (Jaguar, G/F) with 13 apiece. Only four other Mayors joined Standard in the double digit club: Teixeira with 17, McCormick with 13, MacQuilkin with 11, and Hassan Kamal (Camel, C/F) with 10. On Tuesday, Alaska finishes their 3-game east coast road trip with a game against the Williamsburg Minutemen, while Huntsville travels north to face off against the Lorain Firestorm.
