Biography
Thorne Tanner grew up in a sleepy Welsh town sheltered from the influence of the outside world. His family was poor, with his father doing odd-jobs and his mother staying at home, but Thorne didn’t need more than the idyllic surroundings of the town to enjoy life there. Hanging with the sons and daughters of farmers, he was inspired to study agriculture, and with work and determination, as well as help from the Seiffert Price Foundation for Welsh Youth, he was able to attend the Greatlions University of Scotland.
Because of his size and physique, Thorne was coaxed into playing college basketball. He didn’t have the ambition or raw skill that some of his teammates possessed, but on the court, the normally shy and polite zebra had a unique, dogged drive that made him an endless nuisance for the opposition. Becoming a regular part of the team’s lineup, “Roadblock” Tanner proved the old adage that «offense wins games, but defense wins championships», and it quickly became apparent that he did indeed have a future ahead of himself in the sport. Thorne himself, though, desired no such future. Pressured by his attention-hungry father, Ted Tanner, and his patriotic attorney benefactor, Seiffert Price, he nevertheless agreed to give it a try if the chance arises. He hopes it doesn’t.
