Sharon Sawchuk

Biography

Sharon Sawchuk is a 6'6" swingfur currently playing for the FBA's Huntsville Mayors.

Sharon last played for the Galveston Sand Dollars during the 2011-2012 season. She sat out the end of the regular season when team doctors discovered she had become pregnant. She had a baby girl, Ava, on June 6, 2012. To date, she has not revealed the father's name, and nobody in the media or around the league knows who it is for sure (father excluded).

Sharon took 2 years off from basketball activity to give birth and raise her daughter, after which she began rigorously training for a return to the FBA. She played for the FBADL's Connecticut Dots in 2015-16, where she was selected to the D-League All-Star Game. That same year, the Dots beat the Rocky Mountain Royals to win the FBADL Championship.

Sawchuk was then picked up by the Huntsville Mayors on a minimum contract. The move shored up a Huntsville frontline that had been decimated by injuries, including Hassan Kamal, whose season ending injury allowed him to be placed on Injured Reserve.

She impressed her team the Mayors enough to re-sign her to another deal [2yr/$3mil] in 2016. In 2018 she is averaging 3.4 points and 1.5 rebounds in 10.4 minutes a game.
