Biography

No, her nickname isn't a typo. No, I don't know how you're supposed to pronounce it.

...look, you guys are just going to have to trust me on this one.

Frieda 'xXxMiSt3r10uSxXx' Mistry is one of those people that's 'driven.' She has her one or two things she cares about, and she tends to just lose focus of anything else in pursuit of them. From the day she could walk, she's had two passions before all others. One of them, you may have guessed, is basketball. The other is, uh...

Well. The other is 'e-sports.' Specifically WotD. Er, that's Warriors of the Depths.

Just stick with me.

So WotD...er, yeah, WotD. You kind of stutter the 'tD' at the end. Yeah, like that...WotD is apparently some very obscure video game with a fanatical following online, and a very competitive community. No joke, there are all sorts major competitions held throughout the year with some not-insignificant cash prizes. Frieda tried explaining it to me one time. I genuinely have no idea what's going on in this game. All I know is that Frieda was damn good at it.

So since she was a kid, Frieda's spent almost all her time either playing this game, or playing basketball. The way she put it to me, basketball was what she used to keep her body toned and to help clear her head before a match of WotD. All the while, she somehow managed to keep up a straight A average in school. During her first year of college, though, Frieda started competing in the pro circuit of WotD. Soon, she had dropped out of school, and fully devoted herself to WotD.

Turns out the shrew's naturally twitchy and jerky movements lent themselves well to pro gaming. One Behemoth Energy drink before every match was all it took to turn her twitching into a level of vibration that's difficult to make out with the naked eye. A video taken of her during one of her competitions clocked in her APM--er, 'actions per minute,' it refers to how many actions in game she can accomplish in a single minute--at a staggering 320. Apparently that's a lot, even by pro-gaming standards.

She spent one glorious year on top of the world. Well, maybe not the world. More like on top of the smelly, dark bit of the world that generally doesn't get mentioned in decent company. Frieda won competition after competition, raking in prize money. She also started a lucrative sponsorship deal with Behemoth Energy. Yes, things were looking up for her. That, of course, was when tragedy struck.

...well I say 'tragedy.' More like, uh... Well.

One night, while she and some friends were preparing for an all-nighter tournament, a case of Behemoth was dropped on her mouse hand. Now, you have to take into consideration, here: when I say 'a case,' I mean 6 cans. When I say 'dropped,' I mean from a height of maybe three inches. Apparently, it was enough to do some damage, though. Frieda's APM--er, again, actions per minute--dropped by 4. I... guess that was enough to make a difference? Apparently, the next few tournaments didn't go well for her, and eventually, she announced her teary-eyed retirement from the pro WotD circuit.

That was around the time that she called me up. I still remember her exact words. "So, I guess I'm gonna try out for the FBA, lol?"

Yeah. She actually said 'lol.'

Now, you're all probably wondering why in the hell I would take on a client like this. Well, frankly... she's good. I don't understand it myself. I guess she played a lot of basketball while training herself up for her pro-gaming career. And, well... some of those skills have carried over.

Frieda has some of the sharpest reaction times I have ever seen. It's almost like that Behemoth Energy stuff lets her see the future. On top of that, she's got this fantastic analytic mind from all those hours spent practicing strategies for her games. She can read an opposing team's play in a heartbeat, and when all else fails she's a brutal cutter. On top of that, she's got this weird vibrating thing she does with her tail; it's almost like she uses it to let out some of her extra energy. Regardless, it does a heck of a job distracting opponents.

I'm not going to pretend that Frieda is a dream pick for any team. She's pretty frail, and her excessive energy sometimes gets her into trouble. She winds up with lots of turnovers from twitchy hands and fouls from being unable to stop her own momentum. On top of that... well, Frieda can be a bit difficult to talk to. She doesn't have the, er, firmest grip on reality, so to speak.

I got her to go back to school last year, and she's been playing with her college team to get used to the game again. She still plays video games sometimes, but she's completely dropped WotD. She says she can't go back to playing it casually. That leaves her a lot of free time, and she's spent almost all of it trying to get back into physical shape.

In short, Frieda is not the type of player we'd normally see in the league. Honestly, though? She knows how much work's ahead of her, and she already knows the dedication it takes to be a champion. With a good trainer and an open-minded coach, I think she could be great one day.
