Eastern Mustelid University, or EMU as alums call it, is a college whose campus is located in Albany, NY.

Early History

Eastern Mustelid University was originally founded in the early to mid 19th century (The exact year has since been lost) and was formed as a school specifically for mustelids. Whether one wants to call it discrimination or not is up to the interpreter looking at the history of the school. Back then it was more common place for institutions to limit who they took in. But when the 1960s came and laws came into effect to allow for more diversity in public schools EMU tried to worm their way out of following this rule. The New York and City governments forced them to comply or they would no longer receive government funding. The school agreed and only complied barely enough to satisfy the law makers. But then "the accident" happened.

The accident

In 1984 during a sporting event against another local school, one of the EMU coaches called a player on the other team inferior just because they were not a mustelid themselves. This led to not only the players and coaches getting into a large fight but a lot of the fans as well. There were no major injuries from this accident but it caused a lot of local protests from students and non-students alike to have EMU be held responsible. The protests led to the eventual resignment of the school president and the board electing a non-mustelid president to hopefully help prevent another accident like this from happening in the future.

Post accident/Present day

After the accident of 1984 a lot of things seemed to change on the surface but the school staff sans the president were finding clever ways of still showing favoritism to mustelids. This includes having sports players be on the bench rather than starting over other mustelids despite being being of same or slightly better caliber as well at the school itself still being predominantly composed of mustelid students. Since the government was lead to and still believes it is because the players they start are better they have not had enough concrete evidence to step in against the school again.

A lot of people note though that while the staff still shows favoritism, most of the students themselves do not. There are even stories of students hooking up with others after graduation (as they didn't want to potentially risk the ire of the school while still students) hooking up with each other despite one or both not being mustelids.

Please note the following

• Despite allowing non-mustelids onto campus and sports teams, very often the coaches and staff will pick a mustelid to start over a non if given the option
• The school board was all against letting non-mustelid as students in general but were threatened with funds being withdrawn if they didn't start to do so
• Just because the board and staff are still leaning against non-mustelids, the students themselves have been very welcoming to others in the past
