Biography

Ain Iannizzi [pronounced EYE-n ee-uh-NEET-zee] is of Italian descent (part of New York's large Italian population, living in NYC for 14 years though he was born in Albany). He's flashy and stylish (in how he plays the game and how he likes to dress) and he loves driving down the lane at great speeds and looking good doing it. Ain is an embodiment of power and grace on the court, a wonderfully gifted athlete with big hops who can both bull his way to the basket and glide gracefully through defenders, twisting and contorting for the circus shot.

Iannizzi was drafted #3 overall by the Williamsburg Minutemen and finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting, helping the Minutemen to their second championship. During the 2012-13 season, he was traded to the Bangor Tides in a package for Silas Rand, Desmond Macon and Ericka Layland.

2013 Free Agency

After receiving 3 contract offers from the Bangor Tides, the San Jose Thrust and the Santa Ana Spectrums, Ain chose to switch teams and accept the offer from Santa Ana. He helped guide the Spectrums to a league best 59-21 record during the 2014-15 season, winning a championship with the team in the same season. The championship was Iannizzi's second one in four years.
