In a battle between the conference cellar-dwellers, the Kahunas once again came out victorious over the Mayors in a one-point squeaker.

Hawaii shot out to a dominant double-digit lead after one quarter as Huntsville's starting line just couldn't a rhythm going. While Steven Standard (Stoat, G) took a while to warm up in the match, fellow Brit D’Angelo MacQuilkin (Lion, G) had the hot paw, reaching double-digits in points by halftime. The visitors were certainly missing the avian defense provided by the injured Ben Bailey (Rooster, F/C+), as both Gerry Cross (Mink, F/C) and Quintessa Hartnett (Leopard, C) were nearly unstoppable on the scoreboard. Luckily, the Kahunas' backcourt wasn't as efficient at preventing the speedy sophomore Gerald Puck (Coyote, G) from dishing out 8 assists over the course of the game, allowing the Mayors to claw their way back with a 13-2 run to open up the final quarter. Hawaii managed to slow the bleeding all the way up until the final Huntsville possession that saw MacQuilkin fire off a blind-pass around a defending Bobby-Rae Brine (Stingray, G) to hit Standard running in from the wing. As the defense was already packed around the high post, the mustelid popped a fadeaway to beat the buzzer, but the ball rattled in-and-out to hand the win to the home team.

Cross led the Kahunas offense with 30 points, followed by Hartnett's 22. Rookies Alphonse Norwich IV (Street Rat, F) and Scoonie Barrett (Otter, F/C) both scored in double-digits with 16 points and 14 points respectively, while Ezra Rosenbaum (Lioness, G) poured in 11. Hawaii hosts the Lorain Firestorm on Sunday.

While Standard earned 17 points for the visiting team, MacQuilkin led all players with nearly double that output with 35 points. Four other players also scored in double-digits for Huntsville: Gerald Puck, Jim McCormick (Badger, G/F), Hassan Kamal (Camel, C/F), and rookie Cloricia Teixeira (Coyote, G) all contributed 10 points each. The Mayors head home for a game against the Alaska Arctics on Sunday.
