Watching Kasa Yalenchka (Snow Leopard, G) come off the bench feels almost criminal-- it's a good think Cliff Matthiews (Canadian Lynx, PG) is playing so well. He put up numbers close to team superstar Rodger Umaechi (Husky, SF) who has done an amazing job going from invisible rookie to one of the best small forwards in the league. Krystal Bunny (Bunny, PG) is adorable out there, but there's no stat for being cute.

Officials: Kio Splitzer #15, Dimitra Kyriakov #34, Diego Romero #3 Player of the Game: Sanford Teeson (Raccoon, G) |

There's something heartbreaking about watching the Spirits lose a game like this, when their starting core plays so well, yet still can't keep up with their opponent. Oddly enough, their opponent didn't play anything like they usually do. The generally well-balanced Taproots went into superstar mode tonight, with Cheeto Wolfote (Wolfote, PG) and Sanford Teeson (Raccoon, SG) putting him massive numbers to take over the night. Leaving the well-rounded teamplay to Baltimore, it's almost disgraceful to see Plymouth win this one. Almost.

The Beach Bucks were smarting after last night's shootout, falling by a single point to the visiting Rapids. The Jackson Nuez (Squirrel, G/F, SPO) and acorn signs may be gone, but not the lingering frustration. That was clear early in the game when time outs had to be called after Sebastian Spelt (Mongoose, PG) had yet another ridiculous night, sinking every shot he put up, even an absurd desperation shot while falling down after being tripped by the double team. But Sarah Lancaster (Cheetah, PG) stuck with him, putting up steady, solid numbers that keps her team in the race. But how can the Beach Bucks survive when Sebastian is shooting like that? It all came down to the most unsung hero of the FBA, Frank London (Wolf, F), who came off the bench to deliver outrageous assists, including a behind-the-back pass that went under the legs of 2 (!!!) defenders before reaching Quintessa Hartnett's (Leopard, C) paws right under the hoop. While he was running. Dakota? Doc Pass just gave your defense an F.

Justin Destrier | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
The unthinkable has happened. If you were an FBA nut in 2004, you had to remember Team Chopper, the highly-promoted teamwork of superstar Justin Destrier (Stallion, C) [ugh... calling him a superstar feels weird. --ed.] and young rookie Mitchell Redding (Rabbit, PG). Well, that ended poorly, which makes it so brutal to not only see Redding's Thrust fall to Destrier's new team the Spectrums, but to do it in a game where My Big Pony took over. Of course, we should have seen it coming. Clyde Everly (Pig, C) has been moved to the bench after reportedly being more and more of a nuisance to the coach, [Victor Ermin may have experience with this. --ed.] leaving the young and probably unprepared Susan Kruegar (Raccoon, C) to take on the big horse. Normally, I wouldn't mind putting an unconventional sophomore against a guy who ditched the FBA to make bad movies. But the fact is, Destrier has managed to keep himself in shape, and his game-- while not as crisp as it was in 2003-- is still worthy of being in the pros. Thrust? You really needed Everly for this one. Attitude or not. I'm disappointed in you, Rick Loughery (Dolphin, head coach), and not just because adding Charles Neal (Chipmunk, G, TEN) to my fantasy team still made me lose to Mackenzie.
And that's a swish.
