Usage

This version of the Roster2 template is used on the annual team season pages for building the depth chart. Since the roster changes every year, we cannot simply refer to the Roster2 template, as this is constantly updated.

Copy-paste the code below, and refer to the Parameters section for further information on what each line means.

Parameters

Parameters Usage Note
name The person's name, in first-last format. Do not put nicknames, sourced or not. Optional
image The person's image. Optional
image_size The size of the image. Use only when there is an image Optional
caption The caption of the image. Write a concise and accurate statement. Image with only a person's face usually do not need a caption. Optional
number The person's current jersey number.
position The person's position. For a player's position, use one of the five official positions. Avoid using abbreviations. Optional
height_ft/height_in The player's height in feet and inches. When specifying, use single digits for each category. For example, for a player 6 ft 11 in (2.11 m) tall, the height_ft parameter should show "6", the height_in parameter "11". Use either height_ft/height_in or height_m but not both.
height_m The player's height in meters. When specifying, use two digits of precision. For example, for a player 2.11 m (6 ft 11 in) tall, the height_m parameter should show "2.11", using a decimal point (not a comma). Use either height_m or height_ft/height_in but not both.
height_footnote Use only if an additional note needs to be placed next to the height, e.g. an explantory note for a disputed height. Optional
weight_lb The player's weight in pounds. Use either weight_lb or weight_kg but not both.
weight_kg The player's weight in kilograms. Use either weight_kg or weight_lb but not both.
weight_footnote Use only if an additional note needs to be placed next to the weight, e.g. an explantory note for a disputed weight. Optional
league The person's current league. Requires "team" to be set to be displayed. Optional
team The person's current team. Do not put the person's former team(s), as they belong to teamN or cteamN (below). Do not wikilink the team name. Put in Free agent if a player is a free agent. If a person has retired, this parameter should be left empty. Optional
team_link Use only if the team name does not match the team's article title. Optional
birth_date The person's birth date.
birth_place The person's birth place.
death_date The person's death date. Optional
death_place The person's death place. Optional
nationality The person's respective nationality. Optional
high_school The person's high school. Optional
college The college(s) the person attended prior to a professional basketball career. Players should follow the format:
[[college basketball team article|college name]]([[season|year]]–[[season|year]])
If an article for the college basketball team does not exist, wikilink to the school's athletic team article, which is usually [[<school name> <team name>]] e.g. [[Loyola Marymount Lions|Loyola Marymount University]]. Otherwise, wikilink to the school's article.

draft_year The year in which the player entered the FBA draft. Optional
draft_round The player's draft round. If a player was not drafted, this parameter is not necessary. Optional
draft_pick The player's draft pick number. If a player was not drafted, this parameter is not necessary. If a player was an territorial pick, then put [[FBA territorial pick|Territorial]]. Optional
draft_team The player's draft team. If a player was not drafted, this parameter is not necessary. Optional
career_start The year in which the player started his/her career
career_end The year in which the player ended this/her career
career_position The position(s) played while a player. Used when a former player is now an active coach.
career_number The number(s) worn while a player. Used when a former player is now an active coach, or an active player that has worn other numbers.
coach_start The year in which the person's coaching career began.
coach_end The year in which the person's coaching career ended.

All the team(s) the person has played for during his career.
Should follow the format:

Separate stints with the same team should be separate team/year entries.
A stint with a team that moved or was renamed should be listed as a single entry:

An FBA player in the FBA Development League on assignment should be listed in the following format:

If a player is in the D-League but does not have an FBA contract, no ? should be used for the team entry.
All stints for professional minor league and overseas leagues should be listed. The country which an overseas team is based should be listed with the format:

All the team(s) the person has coached for during his career. Optional
highlights All notable highlights and awards that the person has won. Should follow the format:

* #× [[Award 2]] ([[season|year]], [[season|year]])

Omit #× if the award is won only once.
To denote consecutive years, use endash instead of comma and omit the year(s) in between.
If possible, use the full name of the award.
For FBA championships, put [[List of FBA champions|FBA champion]]
For All-Star Game selections, put [[List of FBA All-Stars|FBA All-Star]]
For scoring titles, put [[List of individual National Basketball Association scoring leaders|FBA scoring champion]]
For Slam Dunk Contest winners, put [[FBA All-Star Weekend Slam Dunk Contest|FBA Slam Dunk champions]]
If a separate article exists for the highlight's specific year, link to that article instead of the general FBA season:

All-FBA Team honors shall be listed in separate entries by first team, second team, and third team.
Medals shall be listed under medal_templates and not under highlights.
Players with 5+ professional highlights should limit college highlights to NCAA championships, awards at Template:Men's college basketball award navbox, and NCAA Tournament MOPs.
