Biography

Jonathan Lawyer is viewed to be one of the odd ones in the group. Even at a young age, he's always does the things most furs would consider crazy and weird. One of his favorite things to do as a child was wearing face paint, due to his family being part Samoan, and gloves of different varieties. He also likes talks himself into the mirror. However, the mirror is very personal to him. When he talks to the mirror, he makes it seems like he is talking to his father, who died when Johnny was 8 years old. It makes him feel a bit more confident about himself, and makes him feel better when he's down.

Due to that, not a lot of kids really wanted to hang around him. However, only one kid would spend time with him and he became the closest friend of his life, a porcupine named Craig Miller. The two always end up doing the craziest things for years, and it always lead them to trouble. The two of them were almost expelled for blowing up a volcano, which caused some major property damage. Even though a lot of people consider them as outsiders and not very likable, they couldn't care less and enjoy themselves of being the dangerous duo.

Entering The Basketball Life

Johnny's interest in basketball wasn't really high in his early years. When his father was alive, he would always tell stories about how he was a former Mascot for the Huntsville Mayors. Even though he found the stories interesting and memorable, he never really had that true spark to play. However, when he was given the opportunity to go to a game as a surprise birthday gift from his dad in 2000. His eyes widened from the site of the graceful style that was played by the team led by none other than Healey Davis. After that game, he was even able to give a simple fist bump to the Cheetah. Later on, his dad finally gave him a small mirror, telling him that he could use it to help him picture what wanted to do in life. That was a memory he would always cherish in his life, and it gave him the passion of wanting to be a professional basketball player.

In high school, he already started to become better with his perimeter shooting. However, due to the lack of defense and struggles with driving, he was benched for a majority of his freshman and sophomore years. After the first couple of years of not really getting the respect he wanted from the coaching staff, He tried his hardest, with the help of Craig, to get better at getting points from the paint and with perimeter defense. In his junior year, he became more important in the rotation as the sixth man. The coaches started to see even more potential in him as the season progressed and he became the starter. In his senior year, he was able to achieve team captain and helped his school achieve their first championship while he was attending.

College Life and Career

It was rather difficult in finding a college for Johnny. He wasn't able to obtain a full ride scholarship for his athletics and academics. However, Craig was able to give him some aid. With both of Craig's parents being an alumni and a well known friend to the principal, the both of them went to Ferrengton University in Athens, GA. John went into to the field of engineering and earned bachelor's degree.

When basketball was concerned, his career was almost lost in his freshman year when he tore his achilles during the middle of the season. A week after the surgery, the doctors told the meerkat that his chances on getting back to the court were slim. This put Johnny in a huge emotional breakdown. The thought of losing his ability to play the sport put him at a state of frustration and depression. However, he wasn't going to let an injury to prevent him from playing. He started rehab as soon as he got the chance to, letting the guidance of his passion drive him. During the middle of the summer, he was cleared to play again and he actually became a bit bigger than before, gaining 20 lb from 180 to 200. With the added weight, he was able to be more versatile and was able to switch between the 2 and 3 spots on the hardwood. He was able to obtain a starting position in his junior year, and was achieving double digit points a game. When it came to his final year, he was able to help Ferrengton reach the FCAA championship tournament for the first time in over 30 years. He was even able to help his team win to make it to the sweet 16 with a corner three buzzer beater. However, they were eliminated after being dismantled by the heavily favored Braylor.
