Biography

When asked about the deer, his teammates almost always comment on his intensity. Under 6 feet tall, yet has a presence that draws your attention.

He wasn’t always like that though. As a fawn he was considered shy, preferring to hide behind his older brothers when in public. Dragged to all his older siblings' games, it was inevitable Aidan would too start to play. It was there he started to find his confidence. In part thanks to his height, standing above most of his schoolmates as an early growth spurt rocketed him up to 5’7” by age 11. That was not a surprise to most though, as height ran in the deer’s family, the shortest of his siblings being his still growing 16 year old brother who had just passed 6’5”.

Already a basketball fiend, Aidan really became invested when he turned 13 and he got to watch as two British giants, Benjamin Durby and Jake Turner, take their dive into the FBA. While it was the fox who lit the league on fire his rookie year, Aidan was enthralled watching his fellow fallow deer play. Using his body to force his presence in the post and fight for rebounds. Inspired by Benjamin Durby started molding his game around aggressive post play.

However, as Secondary School went by, Aidan was forced to watch as his friends and teammates started to catch up, even having to start looking up at a few. His parents told him not to worry, that he would have another growth spurt before he knew it. But the years passed and yet he remained the same height. It took months of begging leading up to his 15th birthday before his parents finally agreed to take him to the doctor and let them x-ray his growth plates. They had already fused.

For someone who wanted to emulate Big Ben it was devastating. He had always thought that one day he would jump to the FBA and follow a similar path, but now? He was destined to be a shorty even by guard standards. His parents expected him to give up on basketball, his brother’s teased him. He nearly did as well, coming back to school the next year and seeing all his teammates had surpassed him nearly made him want to accept it was impossible. But then depression turned to anger, with the taunts only throwing fuel onto the fire that refused to die. It pushed him through that one extra rep in the weight room, that extra hour of practice. By his senior year he was one of the top high school players, proving to be an excellent slashing guard who was unafraid to attack the basket even at his size, initiating contact against furs a foot taller and still managing to make it to the basket.

Forgoing college, Aidan agreed to an offer from the Dublin Harps to join the EFBL. It took only midway through his first season he found himself taking over starting duties. In his second year he led the team in points-per game, and with one and half seasons under his belt the deer decided to declare for the 2021 FBA Draft.
