It was a back-and-forth series with each team nullifying the others' home court advantage leading up to Game 7 in Williamsburg. It looked to be over by the end of the third quarter with Baltimore up 81-62. But the Minutemen mounted a furious comeback and went ahead by one on a corner three by Vera La Tiérra. A block by center Rebecca McCloud and a mad scramble got Williamsburg the ball back with five seconds to go. All the team would have to do was inbound the ball and get fouled to go to the line. Then, everything devolved into chaos as Crystal Summers' inbound pass was deflected and stolen by Erik Toivoen managed to find a second wind and sprint down the court. Summers caught up and forced him to halt, but he put up a hook shot as Summers jumped up in desperation. The ball sunk in and the Spirits had won the game and the series. The lasting image of the series was Summers sitting on the court with her head buried in her knees. It wasn't the send-off that she and the rest of the team wanted to give their retiring coach Morgan Roosevelt. 			Expectations were generally tepid for the Minutemen; they weren't expected to do much given that they had been mired in general mediocrity for the past few seasons. But the team shocked the entire league when they gelled together and tied the Montana Howlers for the best record in the league at 53-27. The team won consecutive 4-2 series against the Lorain Firestorm and Huntsville Mayors, which had Williamsburg fans dreaming of a return trip to the Finals. But in Game 2 of the Conference Finals, with the Typhoons already up one game to none, disaster struck when La Tierra, Summers and Fiora were all injured severely enough to be knocked out rest of the series. Despite winning the second game, the life had been sucked out of the team with that streak of injuries. The backups put up a valiant effort, especially Marcella Oliviera, but the Typhoons won the final three games to advance to the Finals.
